The only problem I have with Moore is his play calling in the Red Zone. He's called at least 2 trick plays so far this year and both failed. Tries to get too cute.

We are in 100% agreement here. Moore's red zone play calling MUST improve.. The trick plays in the red zone have a very low success rate to my recollection. The only one that I can remember ever working was the Wilson pass to Dak last year.. The rest of gone backwards.. And as long as we keep going 4 and 5 wide in the red zone I will be unhappy. Quit coming out and announcing to the defense that we're passing.. It's absolutely maddening.

The first year or so as our OC I was not sold on him at all. I thought that he was just another Jason Garrett. I honestly wanted to see him go when Garrett went because I believed that Garrett had rubbed off on him too much.

I was wrong.

I think these first 3 weeks has proven that he is making specific game plans based on the defenses we are facing, instead of of doing the same thing every single week.

When we played Tampa Bay it was clear that without Martin we were not going to be able to run the ball effectively. So, we used the short passing game to act as our run game pretty much and it worked. We moved the ball well and should have won the game.

Against the Chargers we were able to run the ball much more effectively and ride it to victory. Dak did what he had to do, but the run game was the most effective offense weapon for the majority of the game. It was a completely different approach from Week 1.

Against the Eagles it was a more balanced attack, but still leaned more towards to the run game. It worked and we blew the doors of them. They couldn't stop the run, and although I wish we would have ran more, we didn't really need to because we could do what we wanted for the most part.

I don't know if I'm 100% sold on him being the head coach., but I do think if Jerry don't work some magic that we will lose him to somebody. I would like to see Jerry somehow make Kellen like a Josh McDaniels type of coach. Where he is basically the head coach in waiting. I am 100% sold on him as the OC though. I have the upmost confidence that he'll put together new game plans each week that give us the best chance to move the ball against the specific defense we are facing, instead of doing the same things every week like we're used to in the past.
Takes a few years for a good OC to develop.

Moore is the new hot OC and will get job offers. I think its early for that but thats the pressurized NFL. Jerry will try to keep him and make some shinny offer to MM. We'll see I'll worry about that pain when it gets here

Yes, that's why I brought up trying to get him as a Josh Mcdaniels type. Let him learn and let him before ready first. Don't throw him to to wolves and ruin him.

How would you know if he is ready or not .? ... and what you'd want to first make sure of him having a chance of
success is a strong supporting cast, from QB, coordinators, assistant coaches, player personnel and a front office that knows and commits to giving him ongoing player acquisition, (draft, FA, trades) ....

I’d say HC is less impactful than OC on many teams.

The thing about the head coach position is it just requires so much more than a coordinator job. It's why so few guys are successful trying to do both. It takes a special level of football IQ to do both jobs well. I don't know if Moore is there yet but he certainly seems to be trending in that direction. He seems smart enough and quick enough to do it.. and he seems to understand enough about defense that he can at least work with a good DC to build a good defense. He's going to be a head coach some day.. that's a given.. But I don't know that he's ready right now.

And that is why HC is important. He has to choose the right one.

And the rest of them. Many head coaches have a "network". People they have relied on, trusted, worked with.

I could see Moore being given the title of OC\Assistant HC. In the end though it will be Moore call to make should he get offers after this season.

sometimes when you don't know how to solve a puzzle you resort to gimmickery....problem with gimmickery is that it works once in a while, when used properly, but used a lot, it becomes easy to defend. His offense inside the redzone, specially inside the 10 is not very imaginative nor very sound.

On MM show last week. He said they would start pre planning for the Panthers on Saturday. Since everything was set for the Eagles game.

So they did not need to wait until Tuesday to start the game plans.

Too bad he’ll be gone next year.

This team is blessed with offensive capability. Great OC, fantastic and intelligent QB, phenomenal pass catchers, well coached OL with 2 generationally gifted players and 2 starting caliber running backs.

Credit to the players for their abilities and intelligence. Credit to the OC for putting it together and making it work. So much fun to watch.
Can't disagree with any of that. Only hiccup for this offense is injury/suspension.
Heck, they even found a way to use McGovern as a monster blocking back.

As Cooper's rib heals, Gallup and La'el return they'll be that much better.
