I have to eat some crow concerning Gregory

You are correct sir!

BUT...

From many it was reported during training camp that Gregory looked darn good. He could compress his frame and get around the edge like no one seen on this team since Ware left.

Flowers was a first round pick so the kid has some talent.

I think Gregory is going to be embarrassing a lot of OT's in the NFL and some of them this season.

Don't forget that Gregory's best game was against the U and he whooped flowers in that game.

He'll probably get shut down by some vets this year, but I think we're going to be talking about this draft pick 15 years from now (in a good way).

You are right it is a small amount of data after one game, things are different after the first game just like last year.
I agree with you during the draft I was unsure how much he could contribute as a rookie.

This is a suspect Giants offensive line going under an overhaul, I wouldn't get too carried away after just one game....now with a high ankle sprain, he'll be very limited for the next month or two .....this defense isn't getting to the next level unless the interior defensive tackles gets more consistent push and pressure up the middle., then you'll see the defensive ends clean up on the sack totals

It was definitely playing at a different level with him in there against the Giants.

Yes he was playing against a rookie OT but no one else had same impact going against the same rookie Sunday night.

He looked like he was playing twice as fast as the rest of the guys at times. If he doesn't have any off field issues, I think we have another elite sack master wearing 94 again.

Look the kid is talented, we have to see how he progresses. Its possible once there is more film the OL coaches will see something that will require gregory to adapt.

It's also possible that once Hardy gets back, he and Gregory combined will give Offensive Coordinators something to have to adapt to.

I would have to agree. He does look good. But it is still early to give him my seal of approval as an every down defensive end. Hopefully, he continues to show up like he did against the Giants once he is able to comeback.

The one thing I feel pretty confident about at this point is that when he, DLaw, TCraw, and Greg Hardy are able to get on the field at the same time, they are going to cause offenses some serious issues.

Before the season started I stated that I didn't think Gregory would have much impact this years because he's a rookie and rookie defensive linemen generally struggle. I was wrong. When he was in the game against the Giants the defense was looking dominant in a way I hadn't seen since the 90's. Eli became acutely aware of his presence and they ended up putting a TE on him to double team him which took away from their offensive options. Couldn't believe what I was seeing and really started feeling that this defense could become something opposing QB's would be terrified to face. Not ashamed to admit I was wrong. Hoping he comes back sooner rather than later as he raises our defensive performance to a level not seen here in a long time.

Very high on him before the Draft, and sunk him the Day of the Draft because of his weight therefore supposed inability to stop the run, plus too many turds already in the punch bowl around here. ...Gregory downed one, then drowned one and flushed my concerns rite down the crapper early in training camp. His quickness and get off is awesome but his hand work is amazing.

Born to rush the passer. I'm not even worried about his weight.

Me neither. Lawrence Taylor played at 235 lbs (I think it was less, truthfully), and he had no trouble getting to the quarterback when he wanted to.

Randy Gregory is a pass rusher. He's not a defensive tackle. He just needs enough speed to get around the LT and a variety of moves to make him versatile. If teams choose to run in his direction, that's why we have linebackers.

He'll be fine. I was impressed by his first game too. However, he was going against a fellow rookie in Flowers.

Hope he gets back soon. Can't wait to see what he and Hardy can do together on third and long.

I had major concerns with Gregory, I'm glad to say he has answered those concerns in a positive way.

It's only one game and although he played well he didn't have a sack. This high ankle sprain will cost him at least one game and could affect his play the next few weeks. Let's give it a few more games before we come to any conclusions. I'm confident he's going to be a solid player but this injury could set his progress back if it lingers and cause his season to not be as good as it could have been.

I still like what I have seen from him pre season and game 1. He is quick off the snap and has shown he can handle the run to his side. I'm not expecting him to be a league leader this year but I do feel more confident that he will be a very good player for this team.

The Defense looked a lot better to me already.

The defense looked similar to last season on Sunday Night. Although the D got some pressure on Eli they only sacked him once and we got gashed by the run on the Giants final drive. With the game on the line in the closing minutes the Giants drove from their 20 to the Cowboys 1 yard line. They probably could have scored but their back was told not to score. What we saw on the Giants final drive is pretty much what we saw vs the Packers on their final drive in the playoffs. The defense still isn't getting sacks and couldn't stop the Giants from driving the field with the game on the line. It took a huge mistake by the Giants for the Cowboys to have a chance. During preseason the defense had some issues stopping the run and it carried over to the opener. The D still doesn't look very solid we just have to hope it improves once Gregory gets back and Hardy and McClain are added to the mix. The Cowboys can ill afford anymore injuries on defense.

When you take into account his play during the preseason he's looked very good but having a high ankle sprain could affect his play for awhile especially if the Cowboys try and rush him back. He certainly has the talent to be a great player just hope he doesn't end up being one of those who's battling injuries all the time.

I have no reason to think Cowboys will put him in until he is ready. If that is 2 weeks great if it is 4 well Hardy will be back before that. Meantime I think Cowboys will use their other options With Crawford getting some time a DE and Ryan Russell

Practice against the best LT in the NFL will speed up your learning curve. We knew he had the talent but when you have a line like ours that you have to go against through the week; I can only think we produce and keep the ones that can make an impact against our own.
