I don't see how the Patriots have gained any traction in the sympathy department by releasing a rebuttal that sprinkles in a few thought provoking points around a whole mess of crap that gives the appearance they believe people are complete idiots. I was honestly a little on the fence about the punishment until that report came out and now I am all in on hoping the punishment sticks 100%.

That whole part about the 'deflator' being about weight loss spoils their whole case.

Lie small, lie all

The OP has to be joking with this.

Why in the world would I want to see Kraft and Brady win and get away with yet another slap on the wrist for, yet again, the Patriots cheating to gain advantages in the game?

If anything I'd have loved to have seen the league put the hammer down on them with some serious suspensions and fines and loss of draft picks.

What Rich said above sounds about right.

I agree. But... If they drop the hammer. One year to BB and TB... Then it puts extra tarnish on Super Bowls.

Fine. I don't care.

They're always going to be tarnished to begin with because there's always going to people who question now rather they ever would have won any of those without cheating.

The Patriots look ridiculously stupid in this.

And Tom Brady looks worse.

The research is being done, and statistically this is starting to look like far more underhanded and impactful than we first thought. This appeal will only bring that out in the light further.

By the end, this four-game suspension will look like a slap on the wrist, and Goodell will be the sympathetic figure.

Since the Patriots have chosen not to contest the League's findings, is there any likely event that would allow their penalties to be increased?

Is Brady at risk of a greater sentence by exercising his right of appeal?

His response to the NFL may have as its main purpose setting up an appeal to a federal(?) court.

Tom has a lot of money, and he may spend it in court.

Ted Kennedy's own words during Spygate, when Spectre was going to ask for a congressional hearing on the matter.

Thankfully Teddy always had his priorities in the right place.
