If we get Norv Turner as our head coach, who's our possible defensive cordinators?

Can Ron Rivera be our defensive cordinator?

MONEY! With the deep run to the SB, it has really killed any chance he had to become a HC this year. So if you are going to be a DC again, why not do it somewhere that is going to pay you.

I believe that Chicago would have to allow him to make a lateral move. I highly doubt that the Bears would do that regardless of how much money we threw at Rivera to lure him here as Coordinator. But then again the Bears probably wouldn't even allow an interview for the DC position.

That's what I was afraid of. But I feel like if the player speaks up saying he wants to go to Cowboys, the Bears would grant him permission, but easier said than done.

Just think if Norv becomes coach, we will basically run what Norv wants, he loves offense and Jason garrett is Offensive cord. Who do u think will call plays, too much bumping heads

If it is an old guy -- and with Garrett in place it sure seems like that's got to be the case then I think it is a far far better move to bring in Wade Phillips. I think the chances of a young candidate (other than Garrett) getting the job are very very slim.

Well for that matter, I feel as if you do have a point, that makes me think more like Ron Rivera or Lovie Smith as a head coach.

His contract is up after the superbowl and I haven't read any thing that says he has been extended. That is what I have read, so I might be mistaken.

exactly!some people just don't understand I guess.Chicago wouldn't even let him interview for another defensive coordinator job,it's a lateral move.

and not just because Garrett may be taking over in a couple of years, but because this team isn't exactly rebuilding, they need someone who's been there, and done that to carry us further than just the 1st round of the playoffs, can't go wrong w/ a coach who did a pretty good job in his last stint as coach, if we were in a rebuilding mode, Garrett would probably have already been named HC, or we would have been seeking persmission to speak w/ Rex Ryan, Mike Singletary *insert young coordinator*

plus Phillips being a great 3-4 coach is an added bonus, something we really lack on the coaching staff

Ron Rivera looks like he got a lock in Dallas since Lovie is possibly being signed to an extenstion.

If Turner gets the HC job, the DC will be Bowles.

My question in response is why would any quality, established defensive coordinator, particularly one who has a Super Bowl team this year, leave his old gig to come to the Cowboys??

The only way I could see that happening is if Jerry threw a whole pisspot full of money at him... which could happen, Jerry being Jerry, but in that situation, I kinda think he'd throw his money at a proven 3-4 guy...

Now, I'm not saying that the 3-4 is the only answer for the Cowboys, I'm just saying that the Cowboys have a huge investment in draft picks and money in the building of a 3-4, and to revert back to a 4-3 at this stage would set the defense, and thus the team, back... when picking coaches right now, we need to be focused on picking coaches who fit out current personnel...

It would be different if the Boys were going into rebuilding mode, but the talent for a serious contender is in place, all that's missing is the right coaching...

I think, but I'm not certain, that in the last year or two that rule about "lateral moves" has been changed... basically, the bit about getting the old team's permission is little more than a courtesy right now...

And as others have pointed out, Rivera's contract is up after the Super Bowl, meaning the Bears can't prevent him from making any move he might choose, even including a lesser position with another team...
