I hope someone in the media asks Garrett/Linehan about their playcalling tonight

We punted two times and the only thing that really stopped the offense tonight was our own penalties. This was a Buc defense coming in that had been the best in the league over the past five games and we posted 430 yards on them.

The reverses with Lucky have worked all season haven't they?

I PRAISE the coaches for a superb job in an awesome win. Bravo!

I hated kicking a field goal to go up six with three minutes to go. Even if you don't convert, you leave open the incentive for Tampa Bay to tie and go to overtime instead of compelling the Bucs to go for the win. The benefit of another three points just doesn't justify the opportunity costs.
wow.

so they can move to our 35 give or take and put us in overtime.

no timeouts
not much time left

and you don't see the value of the pressure of having to put it in the endzone.

Definitely a few head scratchers, no doubt about it. There are also instances, however, where some people demonstrate they don't know what a "play" consists of and/or who called it and why. Here's a hint: many of those short throws you see on 3rd and long weren't the "play call" the team wanted - they're check downs. Those happen either because the primary guy isn't open or the pass rush forced a quick throw.

The key is don't get in 3rd and long in the first place by running stupid jet sweeps to Unlucky Whitehead. ;)

But the win feels nice.

Our run/pass is 49.5/50.5. Through 14 games, we run a higher percentage of the time than any team in the league.
This simple fact say's a lot to rationale people. To irrational people it doesn't mean anything.

True, this team's identity is its rushing attack and the statistics bear that out.

That said, the last two games have seen higher levels of passing, including in situations where it would make sense to run. That's what has a lot of people frustrated. It's more complicated than just "run more," we all get that. But for a team with a stated identity of "smashmouth football," I sure do see a lot of bizarre calls.

Also, I suspect those run/pass ration numbers are a bit skewed by the fact that we've so rarely trailed late in games, and never by a significant margin.

I rarely complain about playcalling, but Linehan singlehandedly killed 3 drives trying to be cute. 3 drives where they were moving the ball with easy by simply overpowering the defense. They were drives that looked to be on the way to scoring drives quite easily. Those calls could have very easily been the difference between a win and a loss without the defense stepping up to bail him out. He was bad this game.

they do this every week only this time it was McFadden over Morris. It's very prudent to minimize mileage on Zeke's tires.

All teams in the league employ some sort of running back rotation.

I know that but it seemed to be going deeper and deeper into the 1st half after he was hobbling yards. Wouldn't have thought much about this it until his post game comments

Going for it on 4th and 1 with the best offensive line and best back in football has a high likelihood of conversion. In that scenario, Tampa Bay either burns its timeouts earlier or we burn more clock. We also might score a touchdown and at worst have another easy field goal attempt. The field goal to go up six with three minutes to go had a high probability of giving Tampa Bay the final offensive possession with the knowledge that it was touchdown or bust, which removed the beneficial-to-Dallas scenario of Tampa Bay settling for a field goal to take the game to overtime and possibly even giving Dallas the final possession, in which a field goal would win it.

That reverse to Whitehead would have went for a huge gain without the fumble. Good play call. Bad execution.

It's a dumb call at a bad time in the game, especially when you only have to get 2 yards.

A reverse has a high degree of risk given that you are flipping the ball to a streaking WR. And sure enough, we botched it.

Overall the playcalling was good. I was unhappy with the reverses! Unnecessary!

Irving did win that game. I think there's a very good chance the Bucs win it without that crazy pressure in the 4th quarter. We kicked too many field goals and our best kicker ever missed two.

What "simple fact" is that? That a coach making $3 million a year should be praised because he sometimes realizes that he far and away the best running game in the league?

The fact is that he deserves blame for not utilizing it enough, not praise for using it almost half the time.

His playcalls were asinine. This offense and team won despite him, not because of him. I only hope that another team does take him. Addition by subtraction.

Tampa Bay's blocking was awful. On that screen play, every blocker on their right side on the play Dallas blitzed from the TB right side, whiffed on the screen which would have probably went at least fifty yards..

It's amazing that this clown wouldn't think of actually running the ball on 3rd and 2, despite the fact that he has the best rushing attack in the league. But a stupid trick play with huge margin of error? Yeah, sign me up for that!

Even in shotgun, Dak had Zeke in the backfield with threat of play-action. And Linehan and the OL gave Dak plenty of time to scan the field and make his reads which huge time in the pocket to sit there without moving. Linehan attacked the middle on the short routes totally exploiting TB fear of Zeke, particularly the LBs.

WRs were running wide open the whole first half.

And when the offense stalled, like usual he went back to Zeke and the OL to bail them out and open up the passing game again.

Saying Linehan sucked at playcalling is absurd.

3rd and 2 and we get a double reverse?

I can't praise that.

I love a tricky play in a game but make sure the situation is right.

Definitely not Linehan's best game. You have the best running back in football. Just hand him the football. The one jet sweep a game for Lucky needs to be scrapped too. He really makes me nervous anytime he touches the ball now. Linehan needs to stop with the gadget plays. Luckily, The defense bailed him out last night

And is it's just me or has the read option stuff with Dak and Zeke been scrapped once the team made Prescott the full-time starter?
