Look there's no way you can tell me that the student surpassed the Master here. OK so he knows our flaws, but we know his right?
This team has a very solid QB no doubt, But to make them out to be the SD Chargers of the Corell years is insane right now, We have an very aggressive Defense Ware came off the ball all night and they just threw a screen that killed us, then Bush with those 5 yard passes that go the length of the field, Now your telling me our Defensive Coordinator cant make adjustments? Do something help out the Defense, the linebackers were always out of position, the secondary just looked inept, I don't know if its Roy, Davis or this rookie, I just don't get this Defense? How can they come out against Indy and then look like this. I understand we really don't have a pass rush, but come on, Theres no excuse for a stinker like that, I don't even want to talk about our offense, Romo was behind the 8 ball all night OK so they kept him in the pocket,Good game plan, But that Defense was atrocious, Is it Zimmer I don't know Can someone please explain this Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Defense.

How can we know his flaws? You are assuming he was in charge of the offense when he was here....that is where you are wrong!

It is mostly one way, he knows ours but not the other way round. We don't know much about the strength and weakness of individual players of their side ! Plus Brees and Bush are on a hot streak !

I think that this is the game the Greg Ellis injury showed up. Ware got good pressure I thought but nobody was there to step up and pick up the sack when Ware flushed the QB. We were also forced to blitz more, seemed like, then we normally do. Safeties, once again, had a very poor game I thought. Defensively, we were horrible.

Look at what the Titans and Jags did to the Colts to put our win over them in perspective.

Hindsight is 20/20.

The Colts were not putting up alot of points when they came to Texas Stadium, but that was a huge game and for people to just write that win off because of last night is extremely foolish.

If that game would have been a shootout or we would have dropped that game, most on this board would not have been surprised.

That was a good win and last night's results doesn't change that.

Ellis would have had ZERO chance with all the passes that were thrown in the flats

I was thinking about Ellis missing, too.

They miss his pass rush. On the other hand, not sure that his presence would have helped much on the swing passes, etc.

But given how bad the Cowboys were last night, it is very difficult to imagine that they'd have been even worse with Ellis.

It was such a disappointing game.

I thought it would be a high scoring shoot-out. Sadly, I was was only half right.

I expected more from the Cowboys offense.

I tend to think it's easier for the pupil to beat the teacher for a number of reasons.

1) The pupil knows the teacher's players and the schemes. Whereas the teacher doesn't know the player's of the pupil as well or the coaches scheme. Sure, Parcells knows what Payton likes to do, but Payton didn't get to try all he wanted. You think Parcells would let him run a reverse on 4th and 1? I don't think so.

2) The pupil is always trying to show teacher that he is good enough. The teacher has already reached a certain level of acceptance whereas to get acceptance the pupil must defeat the teacher. Thus the pupil pulls out his whole bag of tricks (onside kick).

3) How many Cowboys castoffs did the Saints have? 9?? I'm sure they were playing with a little more motivation to prove that they belong as well. Anyone that's played sports and played against a former school or team knows that is most definately the case. It's not "just another game".

Now, does this mean the pupil has surpassed the teacher? I don't think so. But I guess only time will tell.

That's not the point, The point is our coaches never adjusted to their offense, do you remember the loins game in the playoffs 5 yards dink and dunks, that's what this reminded me of.

I don't agree with this statement. There were plenty of down field passes thrown with Ware coming off the edge and nobody on the other side to close the deal. JMO.

The Patriots and Colts both got pasted yesterday. The Seahawks lost to a poor Cardinals team.

Seven division leaders played yesterday. Four of them lost.

The Pats, loss to Miami is surprising, Indy got ran on all day that is not surprising. The seahawks are a soft team and unimpressive to me, I thought we were better then we played last night but you know we have no consistency on defense every week, Its something else this is what I don't get. Is it the Coaches or what.

A good observation. Unfortunate but true, todays NFL is based on mediocare play as a result of a planned strategy of normalization amoung clubs. I've said it many times on this board and I believe it even more now then before. The quality of football in past decades was far superior to the product provided today. It's by designe and that designe is working.

Remember; Dorsett would kill the Giants with those perimeter screens in the early/mid 80's.
