Because this Franchise has frequently done things differently and taken risks to improve.

Duane Thomas comes to mind.
.

I would say the risk of drafting Duane Thomas in the 1st round didn't truly work out. They traded him away after one season only to have the league nullify the trade and send him back to Dallas. They then cut ties with him after that second season. Most teams hope their 1st round picks last more than 2 years.

Understood.

He did flake out as we know.

But in b/w he lead them to a World Championship.

See how hard those are to come by..

not a bad investment.

And him not talking to the media reminds me of Seattle's RB.

He's making a trademark out of stupidity.

I think Johnny hates being in Cleveland. I also think he's going to party wherever he goes. If he comes here he will have people with him and be on a short leash but I think he'll still screw it up. Do I think he COULD be a very good NFL QB? Sure, but Jeff George could have been too but he had a 10 cent brain.........

There's talent to build on but he needs "Handlers" (24Hr baby sitters.)

I've never seen an active player with some potential blow up as catastrophically and quickly as this guy. He has a real self destructive urge.

Manziel will eventually screw himself out of the NFL....i don't see the reward being worth the risk.

Just curious. Have there been any NFL players with baggage who have gone to another team and actually worked out? At least in the last 10 to 15 years? All sorts of stuff was given a free pass in the 90's so I would guess it's probably likely it happened back then. But more recently, have any of these guys panned out?

Talking real baggage here. Not on the order of, "he's just a disgruntled player", but real baggage. Real off-the-field issues that ended up being that player's 1 true mistake.

This is an honest question. It kind of seems like the league as a whole has a pretty high tolerance for extracurricular transgressions so the fact that a player could be cast aside without any concern at all kind of suggests that the individual just isn't capable of controlling himself.

I'm not even sure why people think Manziel is even aware that he has a problem. He honestly just doesn't seem to care.

He played for the Browns... aside from Barnidge, he had very few red zone threats. Not defending him, but watch the tape. He was pretty good.

Travis Benjamin is no slouch.
