QB rating only indirectly accounts for passes defended, of which he had 23. His 2009 season was one for the record books.

Also we are lucky to have a corner of Jenkins' caliber. It frees Wade up to do some things defensively we might not ordinarily be able to do.

Just imagine how good our defense can become if we get a playmaker at safety.

It would allow us in turn to tighten up our coverage underneath, which will in turn hopefully lead to more sacks and interceptions as the QB tries to force the ball downfield.

I really, really think a playmaking safety makes this defense elite.

And no, we're not elite yet, I dont care how many points we gave up last year. We're not elite yet.

There is FAR more to being a good CB than one, two or even THREE well thought out and perfectly deployed stats could tell you.

Luckily, we seem to have two or three guys that are good at more than one stat.

Agreed. I know a lot of people complain about our corners playing so far off, but that is because of our safeties IMO. Now Sensabaugh helped a little with that problem, but I would still love to see an upgrade at both safety spots.

This shows that Jenkins is very very good. But it also shows that Terrence Newman is still very good. Numbers show that they're both elite corners. Jenkins may have been even more so this year, but Newman was still elite.
