I told my friends that if the Cowboys were out of the playoffs before the game started, that they would lose. Then the game started and you seen a team that was disappointed and flat. Now the defense played ok, but R. Williams hurt and out of playoffs, looked like he just wanted to get the season over.

So now we have to look at free agents for next year. Lets start at lb. Would you want LaVar Arrington? He would bring an attitude on defense that we need. On offense how about these 3 offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson, LeCharles Bentley and Kevin Shaffer. The way our o-line plays we need improvement period. I say L. Allen is a back up if he doesnt retire. Yes, he was a great guard but his time has past him by. Put Hutchinson at left guard and sign Bentley at center. Hope F. Adams will return and can hold down the left end. As for free safety we need a ball hawk.

As for the draft oline, lb, and fs. Here is the link for the 2006 free agents http://www.huddlegeeks.com/Misc/2006/2006nflfreeagents.htm

I said BEFORE any games were played yesterday that they'd need to score at least 24 points to beat the Rams and not to take them lightly.

No surprise here.

RG, posters don't like statements like, "I knew" or "I told you guys back in preseason." It makes you sound like a guy named "Nors" that people here have differing opinions about...and that's being nice.

Sarge can get away with it because, well, he's Sarge and we're not.

Anywho, to get to your post. No, I don't think we came out flat, I think our inferior O-line was dominated by the Rams. Had everything to do with talent and nothing to do with heart.

As for the draft, that is months away and we all know our needs: LB, OT, FS, WR, etc... Arrington is a baby, Bentley would be good at the right price.

We had guys open in the secondary all game long. We just didn't execute. I don't think it was the pass blocking. I just think Bledsoe was not as accurate as we needed him to be. The Rams didn't suddenly become a great defense last night, IMO. They sold out on the run and gambled that we could not take advantage of there secondary. They were correct. Penalties really hurt as well. I won't even get into the turn overs.

I can say it because I actually DID right on this very board before the games were played.

I don't see us throwing any more money at a guard. We will fill that through the draft/hopefully rivera gets better.

However, Bentley may very well be a big time target for us. He is one of the best centers in the game and Parcells has often harped about needing to have a good player at that position.

With AJ not performing well, I would say this would be our most likely canidate.

NOT THE PASS BLOCKING? WHAT GAME WERE YOU WATCHING?
I counted at least 8 plays where Bledsoe was either hit or pressured before he even set up. I counted 7 plays where he was hit or pressured within one second of setting up. You nitwits trying to excuse the O line are really out there. AND how do you explain the lousy running game? BLAME THE RB's of course. THIS is so stupid.

yes, the oline was atrocious. everything starts in the trenches - whoever wins there, usually wins the game. just that simple. your points are right on target as to the quality of their play. something i pointed out to a friend of mine recently after one of our losses was that parcells said in the press conf following that game that there was only one mental error......i told my friend i guess what that means is that everyone was where they were supposed to be, THEY JUST COULDNT BLOCK!!! bc the pocket was collapsing all game, and our running game was non-existent. as to which game it was, doesnt really matter bc that was a common theme in all of our losses.

the line needs help - bad. we have potential in the skill positions to be fairly explosive, if we had consistent, decent line play, which hasnt been seen in dallas in a long time. too long.

I can't see JJ paying more top dollar for 3 more OL next season.

I hope Flo comes back healthy and with a passion.

As for LA, I guess we'll see if he wants to suit up for one more season.

The Center position needs an upgrade, but A Johnson might be given one more year - like it or not.

I think Rivera's play should improve with a healthy off-season.

I still think we need a better option at RT. Hopefully Petitti will improve, as will Tucker, but I'd like to see if we can bring in some top competition.

Basically, I think we bring in top competition at RT via FA, and then we use the draft to upgrade other positions.

Thanks for the positive input.

Re-watch the game and I think you'll find that the opportunities in the passing game were there. We missed some plays that were there. We either threw to the wrong route or we missed the passes on open guys. I'm not saying there wasn't pressure but I am saying that the opportunities were there. I think if you break down the game, you might come to the same conclusions.

you know, my only real "criticism" of bledsoe this year was that he "locked" on receivers, specifically, terry glenn too often. i loved the big play opps he brought with his arm, but i honestly thought keyshawn should have been utilized more. so agreement with your point. but, in his defense, ill say that bc of the consistent breakdowns on the OL, he prob went to the guy he was most comfortable with - glenn. which goes back to my first post in this thread.

we all knew protecting bledsoe was the key to our success from the pocket this year, and while i dont see bledsoe as being a "scared" qb, i think when he has no confidence in his line, he tends to lock on, which i also think leads to his holding the ball too long.

early in the year, when he had decent protection, he spread the ball around, specifically, got the ball to key more, and as a result, we sustained drives better. at least thats my take.

of course, we had no consistency running the ball, critical to what we hoped to do offensively this year. bad line play again.

again, i restate - win in the trenches, and chances are great you will win the game.

It looked like a jailbreak all game long to me. Our line was bad....as it has been most of the season. No opinions are going to change here but everyone agrees the O-line needs help.

There is no disagreement here. I believe that when Bledsoe gets pressured, he plays erratically. You have to keep him clean for him to be really effective IMO. Not a know, just an observation. We had our opportunities to make plays down the field. We just didn't get it done. Ultimatly, it cost us. It is what it is, no more.
