Been with my valentine for 44 years, ... married 40!

Every day is valentines day!

I know that probably makes everybody gag. We don't know why it is, ... we're just grateful.

You and your wife have such a wonderful relationship, WV. Yall are legendary at the Zone. Yall have never had a real fight, that is absolutely amazing. I guess yall are both just very calm, accepting, understanding, and loving folks. Wonderful communication, no selfishness, and no grudges. Simple recipe for extreme success! :D

Yall are blessed to have each other, really. They have made movies about folks like you.;)

Happy (Early) Valentine's Day to the both of you.:)

Like I said, I really can't explain why it has turned out so wonderful. I wish everyone had a relationship like ours.

I was 17 and she was 16 when we met.
21 and 20 when we married.
We were too young to know what we were getting into, .. so we have just been really blessed.

I wish I could give some secret that would help any other marriage, but I can't.
But I think absolute honesty is a must (so you can trust), patience is very very big, .. both of us have a good sense of humor. We can laugh at ourselves individually, and ourselves as a couple. We manage to find some humor in about everything. It may take a while, but we usually find it.

We have also just always been crazy about each other too, .. that helps! LOL

I never heard him say it, but someone told me that my youngest son once told him that if Dad was down on his luck, and was living under a bridge, Mom would be right there with him.
I guess that about sums it up.

God is in the middle of our relationship. We owe it to Him, we can't take the credit.

But we are grateful.

No, the contrary.

When I hear people refer to significant other as something less than desirable. I think, how sad... For both!

So, you don't like the term "the old ball and chain"?:p

Just kidding. Neither do I Red, neither do I. Unless, they are only playing when they say it. I have heard worse terms as well, and they are NOT joking, and I always wonder why these people are even together, if they could disrespect each other so badly to others. It is sad.

My husband always calls me his "wife" or his "bride", and I always call him my "husband" or my "boyfriend". lol. We have been together going on 30 years now, and have been married 25. I am hoping we can both live long enough to double those numbers.;)

Oh man, nothing makes me madder, .. unless it is when a husband refers to something sexual in his life. Because you know he is talking about his wife.

Nothing more disrespectful than that.

I am always so thrilled to hear some of you younger kids that have been married 25, 30 or more years. I am so happy for you and so proud of you. Especially in this day and age.
I can tell you that after so long you realize that nothing is better in the world than staying with someone for that long. And the longer you are together, the better that aspect gets.
That is the marriage relationship that God intended for all of us, .. but so many just screw it up.

I hate to hear, "my old lady", or "the old woman."

Although that was very popular back in the 70s, "my old lady", "my old man", it was also slightly disrespectful. But, I'm not sure the ones who said it realized how bad it sounded, though. It was actually a term of endearment back then, believe it or not, lol, said in passing, for those who did not want to divulge their private emotions, or among close friends who already knew the truth. lol. But, I have heard so much worse than this, especially with today's young couples. There is no mistaking the terms I am referring to, and I can't repeat them here. They are that bad.

Yeah, I mean ... Brung playful is fine, I do it. I get it.

I just watch family members and/or friends interact ... And I think, did they just say that to each other or about each other?.... Well sometimes I not only think it, I will say something like, "wowwwwww" or "really?" or "it's like that huh?" ..... Usually I look at the guy as if to say, you let this go on ?? lol

Just to call them put and sorta mess with them.ha!

Yeah, my old lady ... Doesn't bother me, but I don't use it. But not a big deal for me. It was a term of endearment whereas today there are much more disrespectful things that are said,

Here is an example of both:

Hey, how is your old lady?
Reply: mehhh... Pain in the rass! Or just a facial expression that is not a good one re: significant other..

Anyways... One year anniversary coming up a few days ... Woohoo! :)

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, .. here is how to love your spouse. Really read it, and think about you and your spouse with each description of Love. If you both believe this and do this, .. all will be well.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
