Ahhh there you are. :D

So are you going to give us your thoughts? I'm interested.
I... am not a fan of this draft.

I won't put myself out as a medical expert so I'll say I'm indifferent on Jack vs Smith (I very much wanted Jack at 34).

But if you told me pre-draft I could have Ramsey, Jack AND a DT like Billings I'd have taken it while giggling like a young child.

Would you describe Emmitt as a freak athlete? I wouldn't.

I would consider Emmitt a freak athlete with respect to his being an every down back who played 15 seasons in the NFL and only missed 14 out of 240 games to exclude the playoffs. Not to mention the fact that he's the NFL's All-Time leading rusher. If that isn't a freak athlete then I don't know what is.

Granted he had the O-Line for many of those years and a great lead blocker in Daryl, but you can't discount his personal achievements.

It depends on how these glasses got this way.
If half empty, were yo given this full and drank half the "kool-aid" make it half empty
If half full, were you given it empty and are filling it with "kool-aid" to make it half full

Either way it's "kool-aid"

Looks more like vodka, but that's just me.

Gotcha. Well. Hopefully you'll warm up to these picks. We still have six left and the first three, while not everyone's cup of tea, are incredibly solid picks. Zeke will prove his worth immediately. The other two, it may be a year or so but they'll fit in nicely.

After the shock of the second round pick has worn off and the facts start to trickle in, I'm thinking this might just be a really good draft. Not the players I would have chosen, but maybe we got some really good players. I never heard of the third round pick but he looks pretty good in his highlight film someone posted.

Elliott has the potential to be better than Murray, LB Smith with potential to be better than Sean Lee, and Maelik Collins might have the potential to be as good as Ratliff was.

I'm kind of excited about this draft class so far even though this year's draft seemed to lack star power.

That's me right there on the left.

GlassHalfEmptyHalfFull.jpg

When you consider that the glass is larger at the top, the correct conclusion is both glasses are filled less than half way

If Jaylon is ready by a minium of next season and plays up to expectations. If Collins can become a starter this season. (not saying a whole lot here haha) I don't even need to say anything about Zeke. This will be a good draft. You get two top 5 players and a year one starter from the 3rd round. I think now having Cedric Thornton at the 1T will help Collins a lot playing the 3T.

Lots of major potential in the top 3. What's not to like? Right?

Rd1: This guy is ready day one. He's a freak of an athlete and he instantly restores the versatility that we have sorely missed on the offensive side of the ball in the backfield. How do you game plan for our offense now? Do you put 8 in the box and try to slow Zeke down? Dez goes nutso. Do you shade someone over or double Dez? Zeke shoves it down your throat in numerous ways. This pick alone will keep Romo upright and that makes me very happy. The buzz words have been echoed on numerous occasions since the Zeke pick and they are spot on. Drafting Zeke helps both the offense and defense. The number of offensive plays per game had gone up by 8-10 and the defense will be very thankful for that change.

Rd2: Everyone is curious about this pick but watch the tape! This guy can flat out fly sideline to sideline! He gets off blocks like butter on a hot knife. His versatility is beautiful. He's tenacious. His heart is ginormous. All roads point to superstar potential in my book and he should be afforded the usual 2-3 year rookie window to prove to us all that he deserves to be a Cowboy. This guy's has franchise player potential stenciled all over his forehead. You can't see it?

Rd3: Some defensive tackles aren't sexy. But they go to work and they love to disrupt the middle. That's what I see in this guy. A lunch pail talent that Marinelli will turn into a beast in the middle. We already know the strength is there. He squats 785. That's like squatting 2 and a half of me. Impressive to say the least. The real key here is the fact that we absolutely must get away from leaving our defensive guys (speaking mostly to the DLine) out there to dry. We have to get back to having a solid rotation that keeps guys fresh. This is a strong step in that direction.

This draft is going very well IMO. I'm seeing a visionary draft strategy that's focusing on fitting pieces together for the next several years vs instant gratification.

Hey Bleu, I like this draft too. And we just got what appears to be a very good value pick in the 4th round.

I know there's going to be a lot of people butt hurt over the 2nd round for awhile, and well, that's just what some people like to do.

Also, I absolutely cannot wait to see EE behind our O-line. I am SO GLAD that we are not adopting a mentality of "this O-line is so good anyone can run behind it". Now, we can truly maximize our biggest strength- having a legitimately elite prospect run behind our big boys could really be something special.

ESPN Insider Analysis

4
Ezekiel Elliott
COLLEGE: OSU
POS: RB

What he brings
in.gif
: Elliott is a highly competitive runner with an excellent combination of agility, power and top-end speed for a bigger back. He also shows natural pass-catching ability, and he brings elite toughness to the field as a blocker. Elliott is the best running back in the class, and while he's not as dynamic of a runner as Adrian Peterson or Todd Gurley, his well-rounded skill set makes him the rare RB prospect who's actually worth a first-round pick. -- Kevin Weidl

How he fits: This may not appear to be a pressing need considering the Cowboys finished fifth in yards per rush last year, but Elliott has the vision, power and speed to immediately leapfrog Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris to take over as the primary ball carrier. He should also become quarterback Tony Romo's best friend as he catches the ball well and he's an effective pass-blocker. -- Steve Muench

34
Jaylon Smith
COLLEGE: ND
POS: OLB

What he brings
in.gif
: Smith is arguably the top prospect in this draft class if he were healthy, however a major knee injury in the final game of his college career brings some uncertainty about his future in the pros. On tape, he has fast eyes and excellent ball reaction to go along with outstanding range, and he flashes explosive power as a tackler. He also brings strong value on third downs with the athleticism to hold up in coverage, and he is an underrated blitzer. The recovery of his knee injury will determine his success at the next level, however he could end up being the steal of the draft if he is able to return to the caliber player we studied on tape.

How he fits
in.gif
: This pick is an investment for the future pick, as Smith would have been the No. 1 player on our board if it wasn't for his knee injury. Smith is an exceptional talent and has the ability to affect the game in every phase. Assuming Dallas felt good about his medical projection, the Cowboys have a chance to find a difference-making starter if he is able to return to his old form within a year or two's time. -- Kevin Weidl

67
Maliek Collins
COLLEGE: NEB
POS: DT

What he brings
in.gif
: Collins is a classic 3-technique with outstanding quickness to penetrate and disrupt. He has adequate size for that role and has a powerful upper body, but his core strength is lacking and he's not very scheme versatile. He came into the 2015 season a little out of shape and saw his production dip from the prior season. However, he was playing his best football toward the end of the season where he showed he has the talent to develop into a quality starter on the interior. -- Kevin Weidl

How he fits: Nick Hayden has yet to record a sack in 47 starts in his three years with the organization and Terrell McClain enters a contract year in 2017, so Dallas needed to infuse competition and depth next to Tyrone Crawford. Collins' initial quickness makes him a good fit for the Cowboys' scheme and he could prove to be a steal if he gets back to playing the way he did on his 2014 tape. -- Steve Muench

101
Charles Tapper
COLLEGE: OKLA
POS: DE

What he brings
in.gif
: Tapper ran the fastest 40 (4.59) out of all the defensive linemen at the scouting combine and posted above-average results in every other test except the bench press. He sets the edge well against the run as he has the length to keep blockers off his frame and the quick hands to disengage once he locates the ball. Tapper is a developing pass-rusher who needs to continue to evolve as a hand fighter, but he got better during the course of his college career. He has the potential to develop into a disruptive edge rusher. -- Steve Muench

How he fits: Dallas finished 25th in the league with 31 sacks last season. Owner Jerry Jones has said the team isn't bringing back Greg Hardy, Randy Gregory has been suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for a substance-abuse violation, and DeMarcus Lawrence had significant back surgery in January. Tapper is a good value at this point, and he fills the Cowboys' most pressing need as he has the raw tools to develop into a disruptive pass-rusher.

I'm familiar with his accolades, but no one ever called him a freak, just like they haven't called Zeke a freak athlete. A freak athlete would be a guy like Bo Jackson or Adrian Peterson. He isn't one of those guys. He is a really good, well rounded back though.

Are people really wringing hands over the Dak pick? Lord have mercy. This draft is going incredibly well thus far. I guess you truly can't make everyone happy no matter what you do....
