It pains me to realize that we had a shot at the best running back in the league(Chris Johnson)...Felix is great, but he`s injury prone. Don`t get me wrong, I think Felix is finally starting to blossom once jason garrett got his mind right, bit we passed up a proven factor back....

IF we could go back to that draft, all things considered, would you take Johnson over Felix

We took Felix in part because we already had Barber. Felix was used to a part-time role at Arkansas. We were consciously trying to create a two-headed monster.

Of course you would. There's no question to it. CJ is unreal.

But what are you gonna do, there's no time machine.

You cant look at it like that, theres lots of players that we pass on that become great. Ala. Randy Moss .....Its all about the coachs and setting the players up for success, and not failure. Chris Johnson just fell into good system and great coach. What if raiders drafted Johnson?? same success? I highly doubt it.

The thing is Chris Johnson wouldn't be Chris Johnson in Dallas.

I even think Fisher said they were going to take Felix had we not.

Also Goose said teams only had 22 legit 1st rounders that year and Felix was one of them.

So at the time we no doubt made the best choice. Especially if you consider the level he performed at in the SEC.

Besides we had it on good authority that Johnson could only run straight ahead.

LOL, beat me to it. I remember pre draft talk about CJ was he didn't have lateral movement and wouldn't be a successful back. Guess that turned out to be wrong.

Exactly. This is what people that bring this up fail to realize. Johnson would be playing the exact same role Felix is now. I also hate this stuff because 20 some other teams passed on Johnson also.

Chris Johnson would be getting 5-8 touches per game in Dallas.

I think Felix can do great things if we give him a chance. He has rare talent and it is obvious whenever he gets even a little bit of a hole to exploit. I really believe he is the key to our season. I just pray that Garrett keeps using him more and more.

I bet Chris Johnson is all burnt out and used up like Eddie George and Shaun Alexander in about 3-4 years and Felix is still running strong and being a major contributor to this offense.

Felix has the highest rushing average in NFL history for any running back with more than 30 career attempts.

Who knows what would happen if he ever got 300 to 350 carries in a season?

If we had drafted Johnson and gave him seven carries a game, and if Tennessee had taken Felix like Fisher said they would have, then gave him 300-plus carries, we might be sitting here rueing the day we passed on Felix Jones for a guy who gets the ball only six or seven times a game.

No joke, I'm an old man and a fan of the Cowboy's from year one and it is hard to even come on this forum.

I hear ya!

It is getting harder and harder to come on the board. It used to be an addiction for me. Now I come on, look around, and leave some days.

I haven't been a fan as long as you, but almost, ... 1967 or so.
