This defense, with the return of Sean Lee, the addition of Randy Gregory, and the continued maturation of guys like Crawford and Lawrence, is going to be pretty formidable from Day 1. But just as this defense, with these younger players, might start feeling a little fatigue after a four-game stretch, what happens? We get a HUGE injection of talent in Hardy and McClain, who are not only some of the most talented players we have on that side of the ball, but they are inspirational leaders who other players gravitate to.

It's like getting a big shot of adrenaline, both physically and mentally, a quarter of the way through the season. As long and as much of a grind as a season can be, I think this could be a huge advantage for us, and advantage that could really slingshot us straight to the top.

I totally understand the gist but I would much rather there was no 4 game suspension. I wish Hardy and McClain were there from Game 1 so the defense can jell together.

I would be more concerned if Hardy's original 10-game suspension was upheld. Weeks 5-17 is plenty of time to gel as a defense.

If they re-signed murray, id have made him go hang out with blount and leveon bell. After that workload, a couple game suspension would have been beautiful.

I don't know how well Hardy will do having not played a meaningful game in almost two years. However, if Randy Gregory comes out the gates strong(ly), can you imagine the panic that will set in for offensive coordinators when they have to game plan not only for puff, puff pass rush RG but Left-hook Hardy AND Crazy Ro?

How the defense fairs in the first four games will largely determine how much I like that four game suspension.

Puff puff pass rush and left hook Hardy I know that's in poor taste but I'm immature LMAO

Mcclain got 1 week of practice this offseason and Hardy won't have played a real game in over a year, with 4 weeks of missed practice before his 1st game. It's going to take several games for Hardy to get in game shape and used to playing, and McClain may not even dress for a couple of weeks after his is up since he's had next to zero practice time, no games and will be left on his own to even get in game shape. I see nothing positive about the suspensions.

My concern with Hardy stems more from him having last played week one of 2014. That's a lot of potential rust. McClain has been nicked up since he arrived in Dallas so he needs practice and playing time in order to be ready. The suspensions keep them from practice and meetings where teams truly begin to gel.

But again... I totally understand your initial premise.

He played in a meaningful game 1 year ago.

I don't buy into the whole "love four game suspensions" thing but keep in mind that after the New England game is a bye week.

I wish our bye wasn't so early though. You need that break later on in the season to rest injuries and refocus on finishing strong
