I found this video a while back and meant to post it on Father's day, but it is a good reminder year round so ..
I'm lucky to still have my dad, he wears a size 19 ring. Needless to say, I listened to him when he spoke and thank God I did.Back in early 73, I was 19 with my hair was down to my shoulders. I was still living with my parents.
A distant older relative stopped by for a visit. He looked at me and told my dad " why do you let your son grow his hair like that? Have you lost control of your house? He looks like a marijuano.Tell him to cut his hair!"
My dad looked at me then looked at him and said " to me he looks good". From that day forward, my dad became my hero, I knew he had my back. He passed away in 2009. Miss him terribly.

I'm lucky to have my dad, too. He's a wonderful, wonderful man that has been through so much with me.
It was he, not my wife, that was by my bedside at Walter Reed. He spent a month in Washington, away from his business, while I started my PT to keep me from getting discouraged.
It was he, not my wife, that was with me when I battled drugs. Taking me into VA rehab after VA rehab, with the hope that I would one day wake up from the hate and self-loathing I had for myself. And I did, finally
And I get to work for him, now. I'm truly blessed.
All I want to do is be a wonderful father to my son, now. So far, so good

Both of you had amazing, fathers, no doubt, friends! We're very lucky. In this day and age, lots of dad's are skipping out on the chance to be in their kid's lives. It's mind blowing one would elect to forego the beauty of witnessing your child grow up and be a guiding force in their life.I hear ya lol. My dad was small in stature but no doubt on who was the head of household and el Jefe. His word was law lol. He was lenient as long as us boys stayed out of trouble. It worked.
Thanks Jefe!
Sounds like a great man. You're lucky to have had someone like him in your corner. Make sure he knows how much you appreciate him. I still have trouble telling my dad how much I appreciate him, damn machismo mentality.I'm lucky to have my dad, too. He's a wonderful, wonderful man that has been through so much with me.
