Ok I misread the OP... D'oh, he said he saw him in Austin. Do people not realize how close Austin is to DFW? That's an hour flight at most or three hour drive. Not an unreasonable thing for him to have possibly seen him. As for the rest, I don't care enough to weigh in on that.

also, perhaps he did not leave a tip because like many of us he doesn't carry cash and since his meal was comped he didn't get to add the tip to his credit card.

A lot of the times when people get meals comped, they think a tip is included. This is especially true for those who have never worked in the industry and even more true for intellects/nerd types.

Still, I can't stand those that don't tip or <10% tippers. Nothing more wrong than the "verbal" tip.

Maybe Jason was with someone else who was going to cover the tip/meal?

So it appears it has been confirmed by a 3rd party that Garrett was at least in the Austin area on the day in question.
