I was celebrating my son's birthday at chuck e cheese's in cherry hill new jersey and I ran into jeromiah trotter there.

I asked him was he still with tampa he said no not currently and he said he hasn't made up his mind if he's going to play this year.

I asked him about the eagles he said they're cheap.
He said he puts things in gods hands and respects the business but felt they made a bad decision.

I told him I was a cowboy fan and that I wasn't sad to see him go lol he laughed.

He said that he likes the cowboys team and thought we should have won it last year.

He said last year a lot of players really couldn't stand the pats. (No suprise there)

He said he likes romo but he hopes he wins a playoff game this year or it can really hurt his confidence.

He agreed with me that mcnabb came back too early and probably was looking over his shoulder.

He said that he still talks to owens and trent cole and dawkins from his eagles days.

He also said that a lot guys sided with owens on that team and didn't really think he was the problem.

He still resides in new jersey him and his wife has a real estate business and a car wash there.

He said one of the things that makes players want to play for the cowboys is that players around the league respect jerry jones.

They know he wants to win.

He said he was close to signing with dallas before he rejoined the eagles it just never fell through.

We actually talked for about 30 mins because we were just watching our kids run wild and he said he was actually happy to talk a little sports because he was getting bored lol

He was a pretty cool guy and I wished him luck I have a pic but don't know how to post it from my blackberry

Trotter just confirmed 2 things I have always said. that all players want to play for the Cowboys, they are America's Team, and Jerry is always working to have a winning team day in and day out. that is why I never get upset with Jerry.

Thanks for the story royw. It's fun to hear a player's perspective on things when they are not being "politically correct." If you really think about it, we get very little of that kind of news.

We really have the best of worlds and the worst of worlds with Jerry. On the good side, we have a passionate owner who will do whatever it takes to win. We have an owner who has set up a whole "corporate" structure to rehabilitate troubled players with talent. We have an owner whose business acumen is respected across the NFL.

On the bad side, we have an owner who is convinced he is as good (or better) than the best GM in the NFL. An owner who has been unable to maintain any kind of coaching stability since Jimmy Johnson left.

Even with the "somewhat mixed bag," I can't think of an owner I would rather have than Jerry.

Good thread. I live in Voorhees about a mile from Trotters car wash.
Nice to hear players think well of Jerry.

Backed Jerry from day one. Was sick of losing with Landry and was the only Cowboy fan I knew a the time that agreed with his firing.

I like it when you get feedback from the players and it shows some things that you wonder about but aren't really sure of.

Like some of the Eagles siding with Owens. Given how well things have gone in Dallas you had to be wondering if it was really his fault in Philly. This leads me to believe that Owens wanted everyone to work harder and there was resistance to it, and it started at the cream.

It is also interesting the perception of Jerry Jones that he mentioned. Jerry is not the greatest GM in the game, but I honestly would not trade him for whoever is. No, that is not me being a homer, I just know that when a man is respected and is doing the things to bring wins and championships to the team it is acknowledged like this was. I doubt Jeremiah Trotter is the only player who feels that way.

With the bashing Jerry gets from the Cowboy haters that visit here, you don't really know how Jerry is perceived around the league. This is a good report. I was confident that most of the owners had great respect for Jerry because he has put money in their pockets but I didn't know how players around the league perceived him.

i can say that yes it is real cool talking to a pro one on one. i grew up with James Farrior (LB for the Steelers for those who didn't know.) and played high school with his brother Matt. the best thing was 2 christmas ago i got to put on his superbowl ring

The fact that players like Chad Johnson,Pac-Man and Roy Williams(wr) want to play for the Cowboys shows that Trotter's comments are shared all over the league by the players.
