I might do the unthinkable and start believing in Claiborne

Don't do it, he'll break your heart. If he does great this year, I'll be happy, if he sucks and gets injured, I won't be shocked. Now, I want him to do great because they makes the Cowboys better.

I've been on the Claiborne wagon.. all one needs to do is the " eye test " to see the difference.. He's stronger, faster and is playing more determined. Remember his rookie year he whiffed on a tackle, almost looked delicate. I know i labeled him soft right away. Yeah thats not happening thus year. He looks hungry!! He's a different player folks.

Having him actually participate in camp and the preseason helps - he has had a lot of pre-camp and camp injuries in his past, and it has robbed him of valuable conditioning and reps.

Where I worry with Claiborne is when he encounters adversity. He has not proven to be strong willed and strong minded in his career to this point. I would like to see how he bounces back if he has a game similar to the Ram game in 2014, when he made Brian Quick look like Mike Quick.

That being said, he looks much improved, much stronger and more confident in playing zone concepts, which has been a struggle for him. Hope he can keep it up - it would be huge for the Cowboys if he does.

I'll wait until Odell and Sheppard come in his face before I bow to him.

I might start believing in Claiborne.

He was impressive tonight. Two passes defended (well one was a deflection luckily caught by Miami). Doesn't mind sticking his nose in on tackles. Seems to have a big of swagger with him.

Throw in all the camp accolades this far and is it possible he might finally earn that 6th pick status?

If he continues to impress, who are your starting CBs in the base? It has to be him and Scandrick, right?
I'm all in on this camp as well. Bought time!

This is a contract year. He sees the light at the end of the tunnel. I expect nothing but greatness from him "this year..."... I don't trust him beyond that.

The stat that he'd played in 3 of 16 possible preseason games on his rookie contract is pretty telling.

And he's always been better than he was given credit for, just not good enough compared to what we thought we were getting. He wants to be here, though. It's good news if he earns that next contract this season.

He's only 26. Given his injury history, he's developmentally about 24 or so. Thus it would make sense if he's developing into a good NFL player at this stage.
Take a look at what Victor Cruz is going through, and he had the exact same injury literally a week after Claiborne.

Playing at all last year was remarkable in hindsight.

I think he's just a guy who took a relatively long time to truly feel comfortable in his surroundings. The Cowboys are about to be rewarded for their patience with this guy.

That's the hope.

I guess people forget that he actually had a solid year last year, if you can look past where he was drafted etc

Claiborne is a VERY WELCOME surprise, thus far. Highest rated coming into the draft since Deon IIRC. WOW! What an expectation to have on ones shoulders. He's pulling thru. Thus far. Go Mo!
Now he is playing like a number 1 pick !!!

And playing hard and good in preseason doesn't count?
Isn't the concept is to play like it counts to earn a roster spot?
Are you going to say he looks good because it isn't game planned?

The reality is, he is out there going up against players trying to impress their coaches, and he is on his own out there. He is playing well in those situations covering his man. Seems like that counts a lot as to making plays. Game planned or not, he is playing well.

I think he is pretty much assured a roster spot, we gave up the sun and the moon to get him, I am talking in terms in having any confidence in the guy, right now I have none.

Ya Claiborne looked better then any other DB tonight including Scandrick. Staying healthy has gone a huge way fit him this season

Yep...he's healthy and finally all grown up. IF he's as good as we all hope this season, they might have to tag him. Yeah, I KNOW that seems nuts but I don't wanna lose this guy if he's turned the corner. I also don't want to give him a big $ long term deal because he hasn't proven his durability. Might have to tag him. Let's hope so, because that means he will have a huge year this season.
