I might miss Jerry when he retires

Jerry has proven himself as a GM this year and is part of the reason why we won three superbowls in the 90s. I’m old enough to remember Jimmy Johnson and know the history between the two, but sometimes I wonder if we’re too harsh on Jerry. He’s made mistakes but winning championships are hard and we’ve won more than 95% of the league.

Thank you Jerry.
Retires?
You mean dies!!!

You know he could have had as much fun hiring and getting out of the way with HC’s like Jimmy.

Jethro could have been one of the greatest owners in NFL history. He certainly started off like it.

His ego after Jimmy left got in his way. What it could have been.
I wouldn't let my employee mock me to his friends....would you??? If so, lol!!!

If I had a HC who turned around my franchise to back to back SB’s I’d certainly be more appreciative, even huggin a little hiney.

And if Jethro hadn’t attempted to belittle his HC , the mocking wouldn’t have been necessary.

But yes, when you have someone you hire who achieves such greatness you should know how to better handle it.

Can’t think of another owner who’s ever parted ways in such a manner after winning the SB. Owners need to rise above and cater to these egos which bring them success. Much like coaches do with players.

Jerry has lived off the former greatness of the franchise. He sells Dallas well and manages them horribly. Jerry made moves this year to cover his Parsons screw up. He lucked into Q and some players getting hot. He routinely fails to place the roster into win at all costs position. Continuity of regular season wins and marketing matter more to the bottom line revenues than risk of all out Superbowl achievement. He manages revenue and cost not winning a title!

Jimmy could have done the same, Jerry gave Jimmy everything he wanted and needed to win. Jerry was his boss, took care of him financially and with the tools. What happened to Jimmy after he left and had a boss kiss his butt, but didn't give him the tools? Works both ways, they both screwed up, but Jerry had the keys and Jimmy needed a ride.

6-5-1 should win no award of any kind.

Can you think of any other example in NFL history where an owner parted ways with a HC who just won a championship much less back to back over ego battles of who should get the most credit?

Oh, that’s rich.

It is an example of why I began saying some people see Jerry Jones as their kindly grandfather or uncle. Someone who *fits* into their sense of normalcy.

There is nothing normal about someone keeping an iron fist on a self-appointed position for decades. Likewise, it is abnormal in the business world for ownership, board of directors, etc., not to upgrade a key manager position for a year, month, week, day or even a few hours over the course of thirty freaking years.

Some folks will miss P.T. Barnum. He could make off like Houdini in my opinion. *POOF!* Gone.
This ^^^

He's not really doing it now.

He just shows up when the microphones and cameras are there.

Stephen and McClay run football operations.
- Stephen drops by "Da-Dees" house for an early nightcap to discuss what has happened.

Stephen likely baited Jerry into getting mad a Micah because Stephen didn't want to give Parsons a mega contract.
- Stephen thinks Parsons is in the difficult to coach/manage category like Diggs-
- Stephen wanted to avoid another Dez or Zeke type failed contract.

The real pillar of the Jone$ family is Jethro’s wife Gene.

Most women wouldn’t have tolerated his infidelity not to mention bearing an illegitimate child he admittedly supported .

Gene could have filed for divorce possibly forcing the sale of the Cowboys and division of his estate. But she’s kept it together for her kids.

Never gave it much thought, doesn't matter to me...I'm a Cowboys fan without Jerry hate blinders. Jimmy is just as much to blame....he had won, back to back, so he knew he would get a job, in a heartbeat. His ego didn't allow him to remember that talent, trumps coaching. Not given a blank checkbook in Miami didn't work out to well. Both were idiots in that situation. Throughout my career, I saw many assistants or HCs of others sports, like baseball, volleyball etc., think they could do what they wanted...I took over a program and given a blank check at a large HS in 2008....every team was losing, but since I was coming from a 3A, 635 students, going to a 2,600 student school, many of those coaches talked down to me.....I put a stop to that....fired or demoted 28 of those coaches in less than a month, most of them, immediately, didn’t have a chance to backtrack or walk out with their keys, and brought in my people....2 years later, we won district championships or made the playoffs in 8 sports.....boss and employees must work together to make things work...when that dynamic stopped existing in Dallas, Jimmy was smart enough to know, he had to leave. He did the right thing, we didn't like it as fans, but he knew what he did. Maximize his worth, break the bank in Miami and then walk away....he was burnt out....that's why he walked away so early. I retired at 50....85 to 90 hours a week and about 65 to 70 during the offseason will do that.....I wish Jimmy had never left and I feel Jerry should have called him in and had a one on one, behind closed doors with a better results, but he's gone and Jerry isnt....who do you want to see succeed, right now?

Wow! You must be a friend of the family to have that insight. Using this to TRY and just say, you hate Jerry, is pretty crappy.
