As we found out the Cowboys did franchise Spencer, tells me front office decision making here will never change. This team hates to admit a high draft bust.

So all I have left is dreams of the Cowboys of the 90's.

my sad pitiful hope is that they actually are doing this as a maneuver.

really sad and pitiful I know

Realistically, what should they have done, given the situation? I could see letting him walk, and honestly I was hoping that would be the result. But then you're relying on Butler or a draft pick to fill that hole. Sure, they could have used that money to go out and perhaps get more FA's to fill other holes, but it's still a huge risk.

The real shame in all this, is that they really put themselves in a no-win situation.

That isn't true.

With Butler we aren't really sure until we fully turn over that position to him.

With the draft pick, we aren't really sure how he is going to produce. He could be terrible, or he could end up being awesome.

With Spencer we know for a fact that he is average and NOTHING more. Has even quit on us back in 2010. 2011 was a contract year for him and he did nothing special at all. We have seen ALL that he has and it's pathetic. We just gave him 9 MILLION dollars for that too. What a freaking joke.

Who is up next? Brooking?

If we let him walk then we have to sign someone to replace him and IMO there is not a FA out there better than Spencer beside Mario and he is a better 4-3 end than olb and i dont think we even have cap space to sign him.

OR

Use are first round pick to replace him which im not convinced any of those guys will be stars

Franchise him use him as a stop gap and then worry about replacing him next year where hopefully there will be better options.

If we Lock him long term at big money then it will be time to get mad

this tells me fans are simply not as intelligent as those they insult.

It's not my money so I don't care. They are all over paid boys playing a kids game.

I don't buy t-shirts, jersey's or tickets so I can say I don't contribute to JJ's stacks of cash.

Until JJ steps down, the Cowboys will never win a superbowl. We all saw what happened when the players knew who the boss was....Jimmy brought SB's.

Since then, it's been a joke.

Not true. You have NFLN to show you what you used to be a model franchise by re running stuff like the 92 Chamionship game.:laugh2:

It's an insurance policy basically. Who they going to sign that is proven, that won't cost even more......can you be sure they will draft a replacement. Who's on the roster to take his spot....can't say Butler, or they would not have done this.

The tag can be removed, once they IF they find a replacement.
Doesn't mean he will get that money, they can netogiate a longer term contract that may actually satisfy you.....and draft his future replacement, and still hav ea solid, but not spectacular player. He's not a bum, just not what everyone HOPED for.

Dr. Kevorkian could have made millions off of NFL message boards:lmao:

I don't understand the need for another "This is my Spencer #$#$#$ thread."

Don't we have a few already? What's wrong with those?

Hopefullly if the mods are good here they will roll these together and fire a warning salvo of thread spawning.
