I still cannot get over

I appreciate a forum like this...because there is nowhere else for me to turn right now. I still cannot get over the lack of urgency this team shows. It's almost as if we really think we are a lot better than we really are. We give games away at an alarming rate. I swear I am sitting here watching this game wondering why we seem opposed to finishing this team off. It seemed like we had that 1 TD lead forever. Do these guys have no respect for the opposition? Do these guys realize that as America's Team the rest of the NFL loves nothing more than to beat us. It takes extremely focused young men to compete for a team that EVERYONE wants to beat. I don't think these guys grasp how important this game meant to Washington DC. They can lose from here on out, but they already won there Super Bowl. And the sad part about it is I used to blame the coaches for getting to conservatice. But not today...we just drop the ball, get hit in the backfield, let kicks get blocked....what is the matter with these guys? Stay focused for 60 mins and finish guys off. It would be one thing if this happend once in a blue moon....but we have given games to teams throughout Parcells tenure. I really think this organization needs to a closer look at some of these guys and try to weed out the guys who don't have what it takes to play for the most followed/scrutinized team in all of sports

Wait...was there no urgency in marching 45 yards in 30 seconds to set up the game-winning field goal? To me, that WAS urgency. We simply lacked the execution at the end because of, not surprisingly, another mental miscue.

of course you show urgency when the clock dictates that you must...I am talking about an urgency to push leads from 7 to 14...or 14 to 21. The kind of urgency that Marion Barber plays with

What makes you think this team is good enough to score any time they please?

Hmm, I can see what you're saying I guess. But, still, it seems to me like there has been an increased urgency since Romo was put in there. We put the finishing dagger on Carolina last week. We seemed to put it in Washington today until TO dropped it.

I think that's what has frustrated me the most this season. The plays have been there to be made, yet we let them slip away. That's certainly a sign of an average team. The good ones, more often than not, don't let the opportunities get away.

I don't think we can score any time we want to...but how many times in a row did we punt after taking a 7 point lead?

Well actually...the offense went for the kill shot at least twice that I counted. They ran play action for long pass attempts. 1 was the TO drop, one became a dumpoff due to pressure and the third was a dump to Fasano where he ran out of bounds (I'm not sure if this wa sa long pass because I couldn't see the rest of the field due to camera angle).

On another note, the reverse to T. Glenn was unfortunate...we always seem to call that reverse at just the wrong time.

IMO a bunch of players standing around Owens, as he did his premeditated routine (thumbing his nose about sleeping in meetings) KNOWING it was going to cost the team 15 yards, and not getting in his face about it, says it all for me.

Heck, I would loved to have seen a player do a Larry Allen/Cortez to him.

The players were screwed either way. They join in to try and stop him, and they get flagged for two or more player celebrations.

I hate the double standard. No two player celebrations or premeditated there, but you can leap into the stands (you are off your feet so should be flagged), can act like you are shooting a basketball, strum a banjo, etc like that isn't premeditated and nothing.

The rule specifically states that a player cannot lie on the ground. Plain and simple. It's not a double standard. Owens knows the rules. He simply planned his routine KNOWING it was going to be a penalty.

He's a *******.

So you're saying if one of the players got in his face, he would have been flagged for joining in?

Sorry but that's kinda far fetched.

It's the No Fun League, where you cannot hit the QB high, or the QB low, where defenders can celebrate all they want but offensive guys can't,

No it isn't far fetched.

Personally, I think the players should be allowed to celebrate as long as they don't use props (e.g. sharpie and cell phones). The celebration makes the game fun...(see soccer celebrations...FUN). Why'd they add so many stipulations to the rule anyway?

Celebrations like Terrell Davis's salute with a teammate wouldn't be allowed in today's NFL.

OK...so, a player goes to stop a guy from doing an illegal celebration after a TD and gets flagged for joining in?

OK...whatever.

Like the ref is going to know he is trying to stop him? Please.

By the time he does the illegal celebration it is too late. The guys stood there because there was nothing they could do.
