If he was coming back, why would he allow his Offensive and Defensive guys to go?

2 years ago, he signed one (or both, can't recall) to extensions and/or better contracts and/or more money.

Why is he not doing that now? The Commanders did it with their DC.

Maybe he wants to give his guys a chance to move onward and upward.

They haven't gone anywhere, Jerry Jones granted permission for them to be interviewed (which is nothing but a formality) because there are so many HC vacancies. It's happening around the entire league if you hadn't noticed, and none of our coordinators have been hired yet.

The Skins kept Williams because he's going to be HC when Gibbs retires.

BP gave Payton and Zimmer the chance to interview two years ago as well. Both did but decided they wanted to stay in Dallas -- and were rewarded for doing so.

I think a lot depends on Zimmer he was being offered the Neb job last year however this time around he is being interviewed for the Rams Head Coaching job. Bill maybe could offer more money but not as much as Zimmer is likely to make as the head coach for the Rams. Ask yourself if you were in Zimmer's shoes would you turn down a HC job for a professional team to stay as a DC?

If both OC/DC are gone, then probably will retire. He might not want to start over with new OC/DC, because I remember the first year, he was coaching them too on how he want's things done and he might not want to start over with new OC/DC

Just think how he will feel, if they do hire on somewhere else and become sucessful. Imagine what the mood around here would be if one of them win the SB.

The Commanders are also paying their DC $2.5 million a year. I don't think we want to shell out that kind of dough for Zimmer and Payton... no matter what you think of them!

WHY has this guy been at valley ranch early everyday since the season ended??? Packing?

I HATE POSTS like this?

I still dont think Williams can be a good HC. BUt i guess people said that about Belichick after his Clevlang sting.

Williams is a very good defensive mind.

HC comes down to getting your players to buy into what your trying to do. All of these coaches in the NFL understand the X's and O's but getting 53 players all on the same page moving in the same direction that is a difficult task.

Head coaches usually support their coordinators when they are in line for possible head coaching jobs themselves. There is nothing unusual here.

Dan Henning was and/is Bill's top choice for OC.

Carolina may be ready to turn him loose for an OC/Asst. HC position with Dallas after a deteriorating Jake Delhomme throws them out of the playoffs.

Actually, Dan Henning is an intersting name. If Payton leaves, would he come here with the understanding that he might be the head coach for the Cowboys some day?
