I think that some fans here are taking Romos performance overboard. He played pretty good and we should all be happy. But to say or even think he can be a possible replacement to Drew or even be ok with him taking over if Drew got hurt is a straight up outrage!.

I just watched his game and I think he's a bright young man with a good future. I think some of his passes were pretty good and his pocket presence was great, but overall his passes were simple and easy( Mostly dump off passes). In any case If he continues his good play then his chances of being a solid #2 and a possible replacement if Drew Goes down are good. But after one pre-season game I'm not ready to debate on any sort of Qb controversy.

I agree. Romo looked great...without facing alot of blitzes, or talent. That makes a big difference. And sure, he didn't have Glenn for long, or Owens, but Pre Season defense is very vanilla. BUT by getting the full start, there was also added pressure on him because this pre season is kind of his last chance to prove he progressed here at all.

Love or hate Bledsoe, the simple fact that he was playing great before Flozell Adams went down should slow some of you guys down with your ideas of benching him. The guy turned in Romo-esq prefomances in weekly, besides one or two, until he lost his protection.

I liked the way he looked. I think he had a good presence.

I didn't like the way he was slinging the ball around on occasion.

If this was the regular season and the opponent had their first string defense in, sooner or later one of those passes is going back the other way for a TD.

That said, right now, he seems to be at minimum, a viable back up option.

Tony's combined preseason numbers of last year and (so far) this year:

42 completions
62 attempts
68% Comp. Percent.
508 yards
12 YPC
2 TD
0 INT
103.4 QB Rating

Its been more than just one good performance.

Good QB's often times make it look it look easy. That's one of the things about Henson in Europe that left me unimpressed. Moving the offense never looks easy or effortles to him. Everything is erratic, labored and panicked.

I wish somebody could dig up the Henson thread from the end of the Ravens game when he played so well. The man love shown for Henson in that thread blows this away and was actually a little disturbing. He was automatically Aikman #2. I remember a poster actually gushing about Henson with his helmet on even looked like Aikman in the face.

Henson never looked good. Romo has NFL tools and moxie, cannot teach that. Cannot wait to say " I told ya so" to all the naysayers.

I agree. I'm sure I could find the same threads. Quarterbacks since Aikman have been having half the day that Romo had last night and suddenly they were god's gift to football. There was an excuse for every confused moment Henson was on the field in that Ravens game. Romo has one of the most solid preseason games in recent Cowboys history by a QB (with his best receiver missing, AND the next best not playing mos of the game!) and suddenly it's "all you people are overreacting!" I'll never understand this QB stuff. :p:

Romo looked sharp, but let's see more since with the exception of one throw over the middle to Glenn, the rest wore dump offs, outs, and slants.

Quincy got good at throwing the bomb pass and alot of dumps and see where that got him. Coordinators had a feild day with QC knowing he couldn't make the medium range 15-20 yard throws. Square-ins, deep outs, quick post, seam route are what I want to see not 20 dumps.

You just don't throw away a possible HOF QB that's proven and go rashly with a dump off artist.

What the real shame of all of this scenario is that Parcells wouldn't put Romo in at the end of a losing season but goes with Testeverde. Then, he can't find ANY time for Romo to play last year.

Randy Galloway is right...Trust in Big Bill Except for Quarterbacks.

boy, I'm glad I root for a team and not a single player

Yeah agreed, I wish anybody who wheres the star well, heck even TO. But the combined hatred people have for all of our QBs is just plain crazy, and they seem to only do it, to say "I told you so".

It baffles me why people do it.

because they don't get much attention in real life, so they come here to fulfill that void, or try to at least

While I'm not that high on Henson, you do have to factor in that he had a putrid offensive line to work with and his receivers dropped quite a few passes.

Romo's performance was undeniably good and added to his good games in prior pre-seasons. Still, I'm not yet convinced he would be better than Bledsoe just due to the experience factor, but I think he's now ready for some plays once the real season starts. He needs some junk time to get accustomed to the faster pace of the regular season over pre-season.

This 2.5 second buzzer is a good idea because it is teaching him to survey the situation fast and make his reads quickly and get rid of the ball before the blitz hits. As he learns to pick up the blitz he will learn where to throw the ball.

If Bledsoe goes down, they'll be in good hands. If Romo continues to improve, Bledsoe will have a hard time starting next year.
