I Think This Might Be Our Super Bowl Year

Assuming it's a law of averages and we don't continue getting devastating injuries all year long, I think this might really be our year.

At full strength, I am not sure there is a team in the NFL that is better than us.

Green Bay - We were better than them last year and have improved. They've stayed the same.
Seattle - declining quickly.
New England - powerful team. But not better than us if both teams are healthy.

Assuming we get everyone back and don't lose a lot of others, I actually really like our chances.

We could very well be hitting our stride going into the playoffs even with a 9-7 or 10-6 record (worse case scenarios).

But the mental toughness we would have developed with this weird start to the season might be the real factor that takes us over the top. Scrapping our way every day and every week just to survive the season, back ups being forced to step up and make plays.

If we were going to lose Dez and Tony for half a season, this is the best way to do it. Defeat two division opponents week 1 & 2 and finish the last 6-7 games of the season together. The injuries really SUCK, but they have come at arguably the best time possible.

I agree that these other teams have gotten weaker. However you assume that Romo and Bryant come back and don't miss a step. I fear that may not be the case.

Also, we have yet to get our running game to produce quite like it did last year. It still may, but we are not that dominant running team we were last year as of yet.

No, I don't assume Romo and Dez come back and don't miss a step. That's why I said having 6-7 games to hit their stride is perfect.

Our defense is much much improved since last year and will only get better as players return.

So the Cowboys lose their running game, Tony and Dez are hurt for a couple of months and THIS is how you claim that this is the Cowboys year.

I need an advil....

I hope you're right. Getting back a fully functional Romo & Dez and having 6-7 games left means we are definitely still in business.

Only on a fan forum can a team lose its starting QB and best receiver for half the year and that is taken as a sign of an impending Super Bowl victory. Everything is q giant question mark right now.

Oh it's our year for sure.

All of these trials and tribulations are just going to make it sweeter in the end.

We will look down and out sometime over this stretch but please believe that Dallas will be the last team standing this season.

Sure. We have to still keep the ship from sinking in the meantime. But the fact remains, if we were dealt a hand where we lose Romo and Dez for half the season, this is the best scenario for it to happen in. I like our chances. ALOT

I have a weird feeling too. Everybodies writing dallas off. If we can stay afloat and at least .500 record until romos back we can make a run. I think we will still be 2 games ahead at least in the win column when romos back.

Absolutely. Given the context of things you did not mention. As I mentioned in another post, even without Romo for 8 games, we have a 61% chance to make the playoffs. Get us in there healthy and in stride, watch out.

It would also really, really help if this was one of those weird years where 11-5 can earn the #2 seed...

Not everyone is writing Dallas off. Rodney Harrison said last night, we would be alright. The NFC East is so bad right now, the Deadskins are actually in the mix. Anything can happen from here.

Percentages mean squat. I am Mets fan. In 2007 and 2008 they had a 99.9% chance to get in the playoffs with 15 games to play. How did that turn out. No way you can make an observation after two games when they were 10 seconds away from losing their first game from mostly poor play and totally inept on offense for most of the game yesterday. Now losing your #1 and #2 playmakers make them a good super bowl bet. Go ahead and put your money on the Cowboys for the Super Bowl after what has transpired over the last two weeks. better yet, I bet they dont get there. I will make a commitment of $100 to the Cowboys zone if your right and they reach the Super Bowl, you make the same commitment if they dont.

But let the game get started and, even with a healthy Romo and Dez, as soon as we fail to convert a first down on the first drive, the same people are ready to throw in the towel. Go figure.

How about you just donate $100 if they make the playoffs. I'll make that bet with you.

Your bet means neither one of us win. I want to win. You bet $100 they make the Super Bow, I bet $100 they dont. Cowboys zone is the winner. And me too when you are wrong.

I completely agree. I just don't get it.. With Romo at the helm then absolutely we're a Super Bowl team. But that changed the moment he went down last week and there's a whole lot of bad that can happen over the next 8 weeks especially if we end up sticking with Weeden at QB.
