So, with the final roster, how do you see it?

5 CBs
3 pure Safeties, and
2 hybrid CB/S?

I'd like to see Delmas and Hamlin at safeties and Newman,Jenkins,Scandrick,Ball and drafted CB at corner...

But I know that won't happen so it doesn't matter.

If we wont go and get landry then delmas is my favourite Safety choice too - hopefully he drops to us

Looky what I found on Yahoo. Their top 100 free agent rankings.....

7. Jermaine Phillips, S: SIGNED The best defensive back available decided to re-sign with the Buccaneers. Terms were undisclosed.

16. Brian Dawkins, S: SIGNED Left Philadelphia, where he was a defensive cornerstone, and signed with the Broncos for five years and $17 million.

24. Gibril Wilson, S: SIGNED Signed with the Miami Dolphins for five years and $27.5 million, including $8 million in guaranteed money.

29. Darren Sharper, S: Veteran safety who still can hit, but his playmaking skills may be on the decline.

46. Sean Jones, S: A solid playmaker who will get a fat contract. He’s a little overrated but could be very good with a strong surrounding cast.

55. Lawyer Milloy, S: His best days are far behind him, but he’s serviceable and can help bring along young players in the secondary.

58. Eugene Wilson, S: SIGNED Re-signed with the Houston Texans for three years and $11.3 million.

60. Gerald Sensabaugh, S: A talented player who showed flashes of brilliance last season. He’s been arrested twice in the past two years.

70. Jim Leonhard, S: SIGNED The former Ravens fill-in followed Rex Ryan north, inking a deal with the Jets. Terms were not disclosed.

72. James Sanders, S: SIGNED Re-signed with the New England Patriots, agreeing to a three-year deal worth $9 million.

92. Chris Crocker, S: SIGNED Re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Terms were not disclosed.

8. Bryant McFadden, CB: Best cornerback among a lot of mediocre ones on this list.

9. Jabari Greer, CB: SIGNED Two decent campaigns result in a four-year deal with the Saints.

10. Phillip Buchanon, CB: SIGNED Contrary to earlier belief, the Florida native chose not to stay close to home, inking a two-year deal with the Lions.
13. DeAngelo Hall, CB: SIGNED Signed with the Washington Commanders for six years and $54 million, including $22.5 million in guaranteed money.

28. Drayton Florence, CB: SIGNED He never fit in Jacksonville, but his age and experience will make him a commodity again for the Buffalo Bills, who will sign him.

*38. Chris McAlister, CB: He has lost a step and hasn’t been healthy since 2006, but he still has a lot of value in a thin year at cornerback. Big risk, moderate reward player.

50. Andre’ Goodman, CB:SIGNEDHad arguably his best season in the NFL last year, a reason why the Broncos signed him to a five-year, $25 million deal that includes $10 million in guaranteed money.

68. Domonique Foxworth, CB: SIGNED Signed with the Baltimore Ravens for four years and $28 million, including $16.5 million in guaranteed money.

78. Corey Ivy, CB: Speed and size deficient. Could be a good signing for depth in the Cover 2.

82. Keiwan Ratliff, CB: Did a nice job after injuries forced him to play 13 games last season.

83. Ron Bartell, CB: SIGNED Re-signed with St. Louis for four years and $28 million, including $13.6 million guaranteed. He’s got the perfect size for a corner in Steve Spagnuolo’s system.

84. Justin Miller, CB: Failed top pick with Jets has nice return ability if healthy.

89. Ty Law, CB: Law doesn’t do training camp at this stage of his career. Wait till September.

100. Jason Craft, CB: Typical CB who survives a decade in the league because he knows the game.

Why haven't we gone after McFadden yet?

Oh, that #89 player is really special also. :D

McFadden is SIGNED by Arizona I think.

I think as for Safeties, the following players are available right now,

1. Gerald Sensabaugh, Jacksonville - Known for ability to excel in the box, tied for tops on the team with 4 ints.

2. Vincent Fuller, Tenn - Not sure if he has signed elsewhere. But he has a good enough feel in coverage and impressive enough athletic ability to be used as their nickel back. He's also a good STs player.

3. James Butler, NYG - Finished tied for tops on team with 3 ints. and did a respectable job at Safety.

4. Mike Brown, Chic - Injuries have taken their toll, and he's just turned 31.

5. Darren Sharper, Minn - Had just one int in 2008.

6. Josh Bullocks, NO

7 Tank Williams, NE - They were experimenting with him as hybrid S-LB, before another knee injury sidelined him for the season.

Of course, our own Keith Davis.

These are but a few names still out there at Safety.
I would take flyer on this guy.

This is why it is worth using a 5th to take the risk on Dawan Landry who is available for a 5th. If his neck has healed he is better than any S we have on this team
We just got rid of a SS who couldn't cover and now we want to bring in Dawan Landry???

Youthful hungrier version of RW assuming the injury has healed

If not for the horsecollar ban, rw would still be here imo, never has one rule change ever affected one player so much - the changes simply drained his desire

Dam, aint much out there right now.

I think I see what is available in the draft and, if needed, then pick up a vet.
