I thought Tyron was the considered best LT in the game

Did anyone else catch Collinsworth calling the suspended Trent Williams the best LT in the NFL?

There's probably a 1a, 1b, and 1c to this answer rather than a consensus.

Trent Williams is really good. Tyron is obviously playing through some nagging injuries this year which has hurt his play a bit imo.

I think Joe Thomas is...Tyron is a close second. He is still young and getting better every year. He hasn't hit his peak yet...that is the scary thing.

Can't go wrong with any of the three. Smith is two years younger than Trent and Thomas will be 32 next week.

I think Trent was highest rated on PFF before his suspension, and of course, Collinsworth bought that site a year or so back.

It's also why they display PFF rankings on SNF now.

Announcers often say a guy in the game they are broadcasting is the best.

Smith is inconsistent. IDK how much of that has been injury. These guys are always banged up and some are dysfunctional injuries even if they don't keep them off the field.

He is not the best LT in the game. He and Free get rocked too much for me although both recover very well. I just hate to see them get knocked backwards although most tackles do at times. He gets beat inside too much and still occasionally to the outside although neither of our tackles should get beat very often outside. They both have great feet and Smith has great hands as well.
