I thought Wade was suppose to do what Spagnola did

We were suppose to blitz all the time this season only to play scared football. Case in point, the Giants drive on us right before the half. We only rushed 3-4 and played a soft zone.

Id give this guy Spagnola credit, hes fearless. He does not have the personal from the LB core out tha most teams have but does that deter him? When they played us they got right in our face and jammed the crap out of us and brought about 6 guys on every down in the process. It worked. It lead to false stars, uncertainty and most important we were never comfortable. We, on the other hand, played 12 yards off on almost every play and they killed us. Eli was relaxed and they beat us.

I loved his gameplan tonight. On certain plays he would double Moss; however, when he thought the play was for Welker he doubled him and singled Moss. Basically, he guessed and chanced it alot. Down on the goaline was a perfect example. The first play they appeared to double Moss only to come off him and double Welker. Welker was exactly where Brady wanted to go and he threw the ball away. It did come back and haunt him on third down when they singled Moss and he scored. However, I love the fearless mantaility and if were going down I rather go down like this than giving teams easy 10 yards on every down. For example,

Newman you have Moss and your going to have to play him singled up half the time. Double Welker and single Stalliworth and blitz the crap out of Brady and make him uneasy. We could also flip coverages and put Newman on Welker and double Moss etc. My point is the teams that played the Gmen in the playoffs had no idea what coverage they were going to do and how many they were sending. That makes the offense uneasy. Our scheme makes QB;s feel like there in club med. We are so predicatable. No one can say anything about personell either because this guy won playoff games with practice squad players in the secondary. Say what you want in return but the Gmen beat us , the Pack and the Patriots in a 3 week span. In that time all of the high powered offenses were shut down. If anyone disagrees all I have to say is Giants 1 ring us zero in this era. In the process they went through three teams with a combine record of 42-6 in the reg season. That speaks volumes. Opinions, and Im not trying to hate on Phillps but we played whey too darn scared this year where the Gmen let it all hang out. There personell is not better than ours either in the secondary. Opinions

It's not like NY blitzed nonstop.

I'm sure our defensive coordinator would love to have players who could just dominate their man like Strahan and Tuck did last night, with Umenyiora and their DT rotation providing additional pressure. They were getting pressure no matter how many they rushed, because their linemen were playing out of their minds.

a lot of their pressure was from their front four, not blitzes

I loved the agressive defense played by the G-men. Defense wins championships and the SB proved it.

That defensive line is sick!! I kept thinking how we would have performed against Brady and I can't say that our defensive effort would have been as intense as the Giants. Then again, our defensive line is athletic and fast so maybe we would have been able to pressure Brady like we did Farve as well.

I will say this though. Many people have said through out the year that our offense was similar to NE's. We have had a lot of success against this Giant D and had a bunch of chances in the playoffs to knock them out of the game. I still think Romo's movement in the pocket gave us a lot more opportunities to win than Brady's style. I still feel bitter about this season because the Giants never beat us, we just didn't execute in the playoff game and was basically out coached period. I think the older NE Patriots struggled with this team more than we did. We had way more opportunities to win than the Pats did against the Giants.

Also, was it me or did Brady do a hell of a Drew Bledsoe impersonation last night?

Don't confuse a couple of failed plays by our receivers with the Giants as them never really beating us. Throughout the second half of our Giants game at Texas Stadium and despite their decimated secondary the Giants rang up blitzes and killer pass rushes that stifled our offense in all phases.

Their backups in the secondary seemed to rival our starters. The Giants capitalized on our mistakes, just like we normally do. It takes 2 teams to help you win or lose but you can't do it by yourself.

Crayton drops, Fasano drop, Romo missing an open TO, we had our chances.
We could not execute. And our O line in the 4th just about collapsed. Whether it was worn out or just confused, they totally failed to protect Romo late in that game.

True but blitz or no blitz we had way more opportunities than the Pats had to beat this team. The secondary of the Giants did appear to play well but I'm not sure if that was more due to the health of our #1 and 2 WR's. We know that T.O. was gimpy at best. We know that TG was just coming off of injury as well and we still had opportunities against this Giant team. Not to mention the penalties and dropped WIDE OPEN passes that were very significant pass plays.

In addition, our receiving core is better than the Pat's with Witten taking us over the top. As you know, the TE position has been trouble for the G Men when they play us. Not so much for the Pats.

I know it takes two teams to help win or lose a game but when you watch the game it doesn't take much to see that despite the "stellar" play of the Giants secondary, all of the blitz packages, the penalties and the killer 4 man rushes, we still had many chances to beat this team. the difference is that we didnt see the same obvious opportunities for the Pats last night. No dropped passes, no crazy penalties. They were just beaten up. Bad.

We choked on our opportunities! The Pats were beaten.

Actually our pass rush had a lot of success against the Patriots. Especially compared to other teams.

Nate Jones matched up with Welker is what killed us.

I agree. Dallas sacked Brady 3 times and forced a fumble for a TD. Dallas did not have an answer for Welker and Stallworth

Welker had plenty of receptions, but little yards for the amount of times he was thrown to. They realized that Welker was the killer for the Patriots, and they simply had CBs on him, hit him hard, and didn't let him run after the catch.

It's amazing how "aggressive" you are as a defensive coordinator when your players can win their one on one matchups.

aint that the truth.

Of all the giants games in this postseason, they appeared the most scared of our defense and our team, judging from how they played.

They played not to make mistakes against us and get the ball out quick. the problem we had was reeves and williams just cant hold up. They only had to protect long enough for manning to find reeves and williams.

The giants had no respect for the packers and didnt look timid at all about throwing on the pats, they did look reserved to me when they played us...maybe I am wrong.

I can't help but thinking IF we can really upgrade our Secondary this off-season that our Defense can take the next step towards being dominant.

The problem going into next season is that unless Reeves is upgraded and/or RW improves his game, we know exactly how opposing offenses will target us.

All they have to do is spread us out and target Reeves especially.
