I know it is a pipe dream, but I would love picking them up. Move Kosier to RT and start Neal and Hutch at guard. Get rid of Allen and Rivera (waste of money) and it would be an instant improvement.

Adams-Hutch-Johnson/Gurode-Neal-Kosier

We have the cap room and we need to improve the offensive line. It would be wise to do it during FA because we have other needs we need to address come draft day.

You do realize just how much that would cost us, don't you?

We pretty much have to keep Rivera. The cap hit for releasing his wore out butt would be pretty high; about 10 mil I believe.

I don't give a damn how much it costs if it helps this team get to the next level.

It would be worth the money and a lot more if it kept Bledsoe upright most of the season.

It will cost us too much to cut Riveria. That's because we gave him $8M signing bonus last year. Don't know exact amount it would cost us against the cap if we cut him now, but it would certainly be $4-6M. It's simply not realistic to cut him this year--maybe in 07 if he doesn't show improvement, but we should certainly have an good backup OG on board who can replace him if a cut becomes necessary in 07. We should get that player on board either in draft or FA this year. And it's not Gurode.

More like, why did we get into a bidding war for an over 30 offensive lineman and not have the foresight to lose it.

And it's not Gurode.
Have we already buried Stephen Peterman under Texas Stadium?

On of those twerps better have a future in Big D.

from John Clayton blog:

Right guard: The Vikings will start to work on the beginnings of an offer sheet for Seahawks Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson. Though he's a guard, Hutchinson could command offensive tackle dollars. The Seahawks would have seven days to match any offer. The top guard salary in the NFL -- Larry Allen of the Dallas Cowboys -- is $6.1 million a year. If Hutchinson signs an offer sheet with the Vikings, it could be much more than that. It's not out of the question for the offer to go as high as $7 million.

1. He keeps making Pro bowls
2. Ahmand (sp) Green makes the line looks great
3. He was cheaper than other options.

I am worried about signing OL from teams that have great RBs. RB makes them look better than they really are.

I personally think Rivera will have a much better season this year as he'll be truly healthy this year, i don't think he every really recovered from the back injury in training camp.

I'm glad your not part of the DC organization. With that philosophy, you would need to cut half the team. Rivera will be fine this year. He will be recovered from his back injury, rededicated, and play like everyone thinks he should.

I'm going to laugh my arse off if Rivera still sucks. Now I hope I'm wrong because I would love to see him prove me wrong and dominate. I just think that Rivera is done!! Maybe we could give Gurode a chance to win that job and leave Al at center. A line of Adams, Kosier, Johnson, Gurode, and Justice is alot better than we currently have.
