Yep, the first order of business to become a better team is to stop beating yourself. That would be neat. :D

Penalties are a direct reflection of coaching. If Jerry would have hired a tough, disciplinarian coach, this team wouldn’t be so sloppy. I would like to see a smash-mouth running game too. The NFL defenses are made to stop the pass. A dominant rushing game could run all over most NFL defenses.

He would, because DBs routinely get away with what Brown got nitpicked for.

Happens every single Sunday if you watch other NFL games besides the Cowboys.

Funny how McCarthy was a “tough disciplinarian” with the Packers but not the Cowboys.

I want flowers, unicorns and world peace LOL
Hope this team can figure this out, because it was a major issue and problem for them last year!

Just need to coach out some of the bad habits. We don’t need another penalty machine upfront.

If I am being honest, thats exactly what i saw in that Ohio state game. And his feet looked slow. It was like he was hugging guys the whole time. He got 2 holding calls while I was watching.

That should be less of an issue inside. Williams held because he isn't strong enough. Tyler wont have that problem at guard. He by his own admission is still learning the game. So those penalties should lessen as time goes on. The important thing is he is eager to learn, takes notes on everything and puts in the time. Now do we have the coaches that can teach him?

As for penalties in general, they are a result of players not putting themselves in the right position. Better / healthier players will prevent that particular nightmare from happening again. Hopefully.

Ya gotta like listening to Tyler -- he's evidently the aggressive type of dude we've needed for quite some time. Hoping he can control it, tho! ;)

Lots of his penalties were poor technique and over aggressive play
Guard is much easier to play so the technique is easier and a well placed foot can stop the aggressive penalties. I’d let rowdy place the foot since I’m not a rowdy fan

I never saw him as a tough disciplinarian in Green Bay. It was openly known that Mike would miss meetings and practices to get massages. Rodgers also said the MM had the lowest football IQ of anybody in the league. I didn’t care when they hired him, but after seeing some of his in-game coaching mistakes I wanted him gone. There is nothing special about him at all.

Remember 2 of our most undisciplined players are gone,Williams and Gregory. That holding penalty by Gregory against the Rams was ridiculous.

I didn’t want McCarthy either, BUT his GB teams were routinely among the least penalized in the NFL. So I’m not blaming it on him.
