After the first drive Romo had plenty of time in the pocket and our running game was working. I sat here calling for us to run a flea flicker.... I think we would have nailed it, I really do.

Next thing I know NE is doing it to us. I realize we do not have the best of speed on the deep ball, but there is a reason you its called a trick play.

We need to install some kind of trick plays for the tough games ahead when we need a quick strike TD.

We need to take a chance downfield once in a while.

Boy do we miss Glenn.

There is no one player or one play that would have saved us from losing that game, except maybe that hold by Koiser on fourth down.

I agree!! I just posted that question to another forum. I kept waiting for a double reverse or flea-flicker early on to get something going. Other teams do it to us all the time with success. What makes Wade/Jason afraid to call a trick play?? I don't get it.:banghead:

Trick plays are nice as a change up but all things considered I would rather see Dallas geting so good at their base offence we don't need tricks to make an impact on the game.

I think the Pats are disciplined enough to not fall for it. Too often teams will get to tricky for their own good and it ends up costing them. I'm more concerned about executing the fundamentals which last you throughout the ball game than 1 trick play that may work or may back fire on you.

They are struggling to run our regular offense without penalties, the last thing they need to do is start running trick plays.

I agree Dooms but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Give us a year or two and life will be good.

Dallas has been putting up points on the board this season and you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel?

In our first match up with a contender team they bombed us with passes and we could not stop them. When we play Indy I expect the will do the same.

The Pats also had a very good D. I expect we will see a few more of them before the end of the season.

The first 5 games we beat ducks that we should have beaten and that is as it should be. But until we crunch a good team like the Pats did to us I will not plan on more than thinking Dallas has a lot of potential as opposed to thinking Dallas is a contender.

If that is how you feel then that is how you feel. By the way we don't play Indy unless both are in the SB.

I know we are good enough to be successful on a trick play or two. We're the second best team in the league. They would not have expected us to be so bold and it may have put points on the board.

Trick plays can be fun and exciting.

But they fail more times than not.

A team like the Cowboys doesn't need to use trick plays at this stage of the season. They need to use their explosive offense to dominate. Period.

I don't really know about a trick play, but a flea flicker is not really a trick play that could hurt if it didn't work, .. like a fake punt or an onsides kick.

Either it works really well or it is an incomplete pass.

In a game like this though, if I'm coaching, I would have done a lot of homework on whether a fake punt or an onsides kick had a good chance of working against the Pats, and when it might work.

I always like a HB option pass play too. Not a whole lot of risk, but could be a big play if a safety bites on the sweep play.

Not being sure if we were good enough to line up toe to toe with NE, like I said, I would have done a lot of homework to see when or if I would try something like that.

Those type of plays sometimes flip the momentum of a game and also tend to embarass a good team like NE.

What you guys didn't see the first play where we tricked them withan up the middle run for six inches, too me it was over then, but that was quickly followed by the dropped pass and then a sack and hey, BP wsa probably happy he rode off into the sunset. That said its one game get over it. I thought part of our slow start is that the coaching/play calling was lame, but honestly the penalties have got to stop, you can't beat these guys that way, in fact the amazing thing was we were close as long as we were....

A flea flicker would be good if we had a WR with the speed to make it worth the try. But the reality is that TO is our fastest WR but I just don't think it would work.

BTW: I was looking at the Cowboy game against the Bucs last Thanksgiving Game. I just loved to watch all those passes Romo throw to Terry Glenn. Some of those passes to Glenn were a thing of beauty. You gotta know that Romo must really miss Glenn. If there was one player we could have had on the field yesterday who might have helpes us the most, it would have been Glenn. Pats could take TO & Witten out of the game but not all three.

What I was really hoping for was a flea flicker. Like someone else said, pick your time to do it and it shouldnt hurt you at all, but could get you some points. If you throw a bomb off a flea flicker and you throw a pick it may be as close to a punt as you could get.

We clearly were making to many mistakes on offense to rely on just our high powered offense and we needed a spark and IMO a flea flicker could have been the answer without much of a risk.

I never said it would have changed the outcome of the game, but it could have provided a spark to get our team and fans fired up.

As far as other trick plays like fake FG or punt, you would have to really study the NE tapes and see what kind of risk that brings. I dont know the answer to that.

And the whole idea of a flea flicker is to have the other teams safety bite on the run, you dont need a super fast WR to pull it off, you just need the other team to bite on the run fake and just about any WR is free for 6.

If Brady gets a little more air under the ball on the flea flicker they tried they have a TD.

I really miss that Bledsoe flea flicker to Glenn. Worked most every time.

Totally agree, this was the game to spring one.

I'd also like to see Crayton on a Reverse throw one....
