I will go against the grain and say I am optimistic

We keep looking to steal that win, but the way we are playing not to lose, I have a hard time seeing that happen.

That's more of my optimism talking and I just can't fathom us going win-less. That would be an epic failure of huge proportions. If it weren't Garrett, the HC would have been fired.

I'm always optimistic, because it's my Cowboys. Even when Babe Laufenburg came in when Troy went down and he was chucking up INTs, I still believed they were going to make the play-offs. With Romo, there is always a chance. If we sneak in a win without him and the East is crappy as it is, it's not a huge mountain to climb.

I think the division winner will have 8 wins, which makes this game against the Eagles ENORMOUS. I don't like our chances if we drop this game to Philly with two games left against the pesky Commanders who always like to play spoiler. The sad thing is that the Commanders are still in the race to win the division as well.

I have had a strange feeling all year about this team. just get in the playoffs and then look out. this team is better than last years team when healthy.

Based on what? That Cowboys team from last year was special. I don't understand this whole idea that this Cowboys team is better than last year. Sure, Hardy makes the defense more formidable but they're not getting anywhere near the turnovers that they did last year, and even when Romo played the first game, they looked like garbage.

I live in DC and I paid a little more attention this year, because I wanted to see what Callahan would do. People are sleeping on the Commanders, but they have clearly improved. When they lose, it's not because they are sucking as a whole unit, it's a bad game here and there that any up and coming team tends to lose.

Mostly it's because Cousins is off and throws dumb INTs. But in games they win, he manages very well and the coaching makes good adjustments and sometimes he plays pretty damn goo.

I actually am more scared of them, than the other guys in the East.

Last year, we didn't run the ball well at all against Philly in either game. We actually ran the ball better against the better Seattle defense in 2014.

We didn't run the ball well in the first game this year.

I think it's wishful thinking at this point thinking that we can run the ball better against Philly this time around, especially when they know we have a bum at QB right now.

The exact same game plan against Philly will result in a frustrating, nauseating loss.

 Okay man, I'm not here to convince, just to express my opinion. I think this defense will hold philly down and the opportunities that were just not there against Sherman and Co will absolutely be there against the Eagles. Cool if you feel otherwise.

I am usually the optimist. That's how I cope with this team. As bleak as things seem, they are still only one game down in the loss column.

There is slim hope. With victories these next two games.

I'm not holding my breath though.

My least favorite play yesterday was Garrett burning a TO in the 3rd to come out with a whizbang play on 3rd down in the redzone, only to have Cassel dump it off to McFadden for 2 yards and a FG attempt.

I got a feeling next week is the game everyone "officially" realizes we are done. I think we get steamrolled by Philly and we see some of that quit. Philly isn't all that good but they will play better offensively than they did against us last time. Our offense is going to be a disaster.

So you're saying we have a chance. I like it

I agree, Cousins can flat out hurt teams when he's on. Washington is always dangerous, even when they're a bad team, they have just as much shot at this division as anyone else at this point.

Better personnel-wise, I'd buy that. We're not playing better yet around the QB. The last two weeks have actually been pretty hopeful. Gotta do something on the ST returns and coverage units, though.

Moral victory?

You can be optimistic for the future without declaring the last loss a moral victory. But heck, I'd take even a moral victory about now, after 0-5 the last 5 Sundays.

Still a lot of football left to play.

I hope this has taught us that the next time someone mentions that Romo sucks that we kindly show them the alternative.

Which team made the playoffs last year? The Giants have the Patriots next week. We have the Eagles. A win next week and you're likely .5 games back and all the pain from these last 6 weeks is easily forgotten. I think people are underestimating how bad the division really is.

Actually I think people are overestimating how bad it is, like how every team will have to continue to lose to match Dallas' pace until Romo returns.

The next two opponents will have a weakness in pass defense. If the Cowboys are going to have any chance of winning the division, they need to have an air attack to win these next two games.

Also, Garrett needs to man up. I remember when the Cowboys play Houston in '10 and they were very aggressive when it came to play calling. They need to go for it more on 4th and 1 or 2 to continue these drives and throw more intermediate passes. These next two games are the Cowboys only hope of them winning the division.

And what gives you the idea the division is good at all? Watching all of these teams play will reveal how bad theu are. Not to mention they have the most losses of any division in the NFL.

Eagles are good run defenders and lead the league in takeaways. To beat them, unfortunately, we are going to have to make plays in the passing game.

You gave me the SWEATS with that statement!!!!!!

It's crazy that that is even a possibility to be the case after everything that's gone down the last 5 weeks.
