I would venture to argue that Alfred Morris is a better runner than DeMarco

Alf - Durable, very hard to tackle, gets tough yards, decent blocker, good vision and awareness, doesn't fumble, not a good pass catcher.
Murray - Not Durable, hard to tackle, gets some tough yards, good pass catcher, good blocker, fumbles more that he should.

I'd say +/- 's are pretty equal. Both backs fit the Cowboys style running scheme. Either is a good fit. Alf is the better bargain all things being equal at least on paper. We'll see how it goes.

I just hope Alf torches the NFC East like he torched us when we played him...he destroyed us regularly.

The problem becomes blocking scheme. We had to go to man on man blocking from zone just to accommodate the running style of Mcchicken. Morris is a great zone blocking runner. How will this be handled? It wreaks again of no plan.

Morris could be as good as Murray at this point... may be better.

If you're basing it on 2014, then no.

If you're basing it on 2015, then you can make an argument for Morris.

Similar backs. Both are rather slow. Both are one-cut backs. Neither one is going to out-run anyone.

The folks pimping Murray are basing it off the 2014 Murray. The 2015 Murray was even slower and he looked like he was avoiding contact.

A better Runner than Demarco Murray. And definitely a better RB for the price.

Now Demarco is more versatile. Better receiver and possibly blocker. But for pure running the football, give me Morris. And he has shown to be a durable back. Emmitt Smith type durable. The guy can handle the load and runs between the tackles with great vision and cutting/sliding ability. Give Morris 400 carries in this offense and he will have 1800 yards no doubt in my opinion. The problem will be that it may take Garrett and Jones half the season or an injury to McChicken to figure this out.

I would love to see them take a young RB in the draft, but Morris is a great bang for the buck. Nice between the tackles RB for this line.

I'm not a Demarco fan but Demarco is much better than Morris.

Still though...... Morris can be very productive here.

The only area I've noticed where Morris is better than Murray is he's more decisive due to having better vision. He sees the field well and has a knack for finding cracks and breaking free. Murray has a tendency to go one way and hesitate which is why he's had so many negative carries. He'll go one way then change direction which is something you don't see much of with Morris.

The 2015 Murray was a lot like the 2015 Morris if you believe Commanders followers. When runners are not confident with what is unfolding in front of them, they run tentative and think too much.

Murray also fumbled like crazy in his 1800 yard campaign.

I would advise you not to look at Morris' fumble history in his heavy carry years then. It is not that good either.

Dang, didn't know that. Fumbles will happen, but not fond of them lol.

He caught the ball very well when he played against us and torched us on those screens. :lmao2:

I don't know that he can't catch or just wasn't used that way. He is more of a one cut and down hill guy so not really suited for that but doesn't mean he cant

Nothing scary about a 5'2" guy trying to look like a tough guy. LOL

but Cube isn't 5'2

fwiw, Alf was never as productive with Cousins as he was with RG3. Teams were afraid of RG3 running and it benefitted Morris. In a traditional offense he was average at best.

To be honest I don't think there is that much difference between the two in terms of running the football and gaining yards. Catching and blocking may be different but if Morris would have been here in 2014 he would have done very well. We have a very good line for backs to run behind and that's no secret. I bet Morris gains at least 1200 this season....
