Why not just trade for Williams at the beginning of the year and keep Micah?

So basically Kenny Clark and a 1st round pick for Micah a generational pass rusher.

We didn’t need to trade Micah to acquire Williams.

Williams wasn’t available then. Williams was available now because Jets became sellers the last few days.

This is why I have no issue with trading for next yyear we now. Certain players and talent become available that may not be available during the season when everyone is 0-0….which is why they should’ve decided to trade Micah sooner.

Well I don’t think they pay Ferg, Bland, Osa, Tyler and Micah. Now in hindsight? I don’t give a damn what happens to those guys now but at the time I thought it was smart getting those deals done.

It is but you've gotta spend it somewhere. The Cowboys still have north of $20m in free cap space even after the Quinnen Williams addition. Parsons is only a $9m cap hit this year, $19 next year. Next year you're likely to save money from cutting Steele($12m), Clark($20m), Wilson ($6m), Diggs ($12m).

The Cowboys have a lot of high dollar contract, but to their credit very few that are really bad deals.

I don't understand, if you wanted to break it down it would be Kenny Clark, Quinnen and a 1st for Micha. The extra ones allowed the trade, regardless if it was ours or GBS.

Nope, Micah is flawed and not worth the salary GB pays him. He's a wonderful cherry on top for a defense that's already legit, but we are a million miles away from being legit, we're rebuilding and Micah is a luxury.

I still think it was smart getting those deals done even if the play of the field isnt whats been expected. None of the deals this offseason really hinder anything the Cowboys would want to do moving forward. Ferg, Bland, Osa all have pretty easy outs after next year.

But the thing is once you acquire a talented interior player like Williams having a luxury pass rushing edge is what creates dominant defenses. You can only double so many players on the front 4.
