I'd rather have Micah and Williams than what we ended up with

Because Micah is making what Kenny and Q make combined
Dude I don’t care about Jerry’s money the most profitable franchise in all of sports should be able to sign who they want and make it work

You wasnt getting Williams at the beginning of the year, why would they trade him?

They’re 1-7 now and in full blown rebuild mode

And if we Paid Micah you can kiss your butt goodbye because you think we stink now we’d only be a tad better because micah keeps the score to around 34 instead of 40
And we still paid a premium for him

There's this thing called the salary cap that has been in place since 1994. Teams all have the same amount to spend annually on players. Jerry can't spend all his money on players even if he wanted to.

I agree with that but Roseman would have made it work rather than dealing him away.

This FO just doesn't do that
Roseman moves bodies around every 3 years or so. Our GM falls in love with them
I agree JJ does fall in love with them and is too lazy to plan/scout/forecast for the future for success on the field. It's easier just to manage what you've already researched and have on the team already. So the true answer is cause they just don't want to do it - not because they can't. Just like Roseman, Detroit was able to manage just fine with all their stars.

Why not just trade for Williams at the beginning of the year and keep Micah?

So basically Kenny Clark and a 1st round pick for Micah a generational pass rusher.

We didn’t need to trade Micah to acquire Williams.

I bet our run defense still stinks btw
Micah reneged in the deal. I don't blame Jerry for that.

Green Bay will rue that deal eventually. He's a nutbag that many in the Cowboys organization were sick of, including the players.

You're talking about a guy who penny pinches the training staff and facilities and limiting coaches from hiring more coaches. He's only gonna spend when pressured to and the on the field play is not a priority vs continuing to profit from the franchise. It's been proven for 30 yrs now and more prominently the last 5 yrs.

Overpaid for Williams imo. Should of not made the trade at all. We needed alot of quality players. One player does nothing for us. We keep all the picks trade down in both 2026 and 2027 one 1st in both years. Accumulate picks

If you look at the value of all these picks, it roughly grades out to Micah for Williams.

Two GB 1sts is roughly equal to Cowboys 1st and Cowboys 2nd

Personally, I think Micah is hands down more valuable than Williams. He’s younger and more impactful. I’m sure there are some who would take Williams.

Clark is a non-factor because I don’t think he’s here next year.

So, the idea that we somehow won in the end is just wrong.

But, it’s done. On to next year and let’s pray that Q has four more high quality years.

They tried. Couldn't come to terms.

Jets season is totally wrecked and the price comes down as they are in full blown rebuild mode now.
We paid a premium for the guy. We not only inherit his monster contract but give away a first and second round pick. You think the Jets would get more if they traded him last spring?

I don't understand, if you wanted to break it down it would be Kenny Clark, Quinnen and a 1st for Micha. The extra ones allowed the trade, regardless if it was ours or GBS.
No, you forgot an entire pick, and the fact that we gave up the higher 1st rounder in 2027. It's

Parsons and a 2nd and a likely move down several picks in the 1st in 2027
for
Clark, Quinnen and a 1st

That's awful.

Yeah I forgot the 2nd.

We lose Micha and a 2nd
We gain QW, Clark and a 1st.

I dont think thats awful. QW is a stud at a position weve been lacking forever.

When you dont draft well, you overspend with trades and FA

Yeah I forgot the 2nd.

We gain QW, Clark and a 1st.

I don't know how to explain to you that something so self-evidently awful is in fact awful.

This is how I figured it

If you just look at players and picks, this is how the two big interlocked trades shake out.

We receive
Quinnen Williams
Kenny Clark
Green Bay 2026 1st - 670 pts (proj)
Green Bay 2027 1st - 670 pts (proj)

We give
Micah Parsons
Mazi Smith
Cowboys 2026 2nd - 460 pts (proj)
Cowboys 2027 1st - 1200 pts (proj)

See my post above. Does that look right ?

It's always going to be tough to lose a guy like Micha, but getting a stud DT is a gem. We'll have to see how it shakes out.

Well, I think you're actually being a little too pessimistic about it.
There's no guarantee the Packers make the playoffs or win a playoff game both years. You have the Cowboys picking 12th each year, which, yeah, okay. But future year picks are generally discounted vs. current year picks, so the 2027 picks aren't worth as much. So instead of netting -530 in 2027, it's probably properly valued at more like -150. Which means the net of the picks is maybe as much as 100 points in our favor, which is coincidentally the 100th pick in the draft (an early 4th).

So, Micah for Williams, Clark and the 100th pick in the draft. Yeah, that's bad.
