It was good enough to win the Washington game last year easily.

One game doesn't define a unit, for good or bad. Since 2009 where Romo is ranked only second to AR in QB rating, our defense is ranked 31st in EPA, Expected Points Added.

So if Romo played like garbage for the majority of the year, but played "good enough" in week 17, you wouldn't put our lack of success on Romo? It would be Romo's fault we're in that position anyway due to piss poor play, so even if he plays good in that last game, our failure would still be on him. Now swap "Romo" with "Defense". It's ok to have a couple bad games a year, but being bad for the majority of the year is unacceptable.

Anyone looking at last year objectively would say we missed the playoffs mainly due to terrible defensive play, not because of Romo's week 17 blunder.

Stats have never been Romo's issue. Its how performs in the elimination games. The do or die games. The big TV audience games. The win or go home games. The significant spotlight games. :D

Yes that's what December and January games are ...

Yeah, that games where if you lose you go home, like he's done for so many years.

That is the issue, if people would bother to do any homework whatsoever.

Most people don't. They get their takes from national media types who watch 30 secs of hightlights and then say Romo sucks. The sheep follow along because they're brains are mush.

Yup. It's the dumb fan mentality. Someone on TV said it, so it must be true. Why bother looking into it any further...

Could we just stop these types of threads now? You will never convince people who don't like Romo that he's anything but a choker. If Romo won the Superbowl and was the MVP you wouldn't need to bother with any I told you so threads either because those people won't be around anyway. They're so invested in him sucking that they can't afford for him to win.

and fans of him will never think he's terrible. This is a pointless argument.

Nope! As long as there are dumb fans, I will try to educate them!

Well ok then. Good luck with that. Continue to run head long into a brick wall and hope that the outcome is some how different next time. :)

This is a really, really well-written post. A tip of the hat.

Would he be a candidate for league MVP? Just curious since these are Tony's TD/ints numbers in the last 16 games in December and January...you know those months where he is absolutely horrible and holds back our team from hoisting trophies... He needs to have better numbers for us to win! Like 50tds and 0ints!? Clearly it is QB play that is our problem..

Wins are the barometer all qbs are judged

This morning on NFL AM they were on Romo and his December W/L record and wondered if this were the year he could prove doubters wrong. I kept thinking....with the worse defense in the league? Really?

I guess they didn't bring up his QBR in Dec. Now for the haters of one Tony Romo here's a bone: Tony can have his "no, Danny, no" moments. His ball protection is good this year but needs to stay that way.

I've seen multiple Romo fans as passionate as yourself on this forum completely change their minds and are now Romo realists. So be careful who you call dumb and uneducated.

You're right but if you put up a thoughtful post then it gets old when the same people show up time after time to throw out their one liners. Thoughtful rebuttals are encouraged. There's already enough BS around here to shovel. But this won't change a thing either so......./rant off
