So how many games do we lose if Dak keeps playing like a rookie.........the last 2 weeks he looked like a 4th rounder and if that same Dak shows up next week against Tampa, I am going to the bullpen for Romo.

I am not going to let a magical season like this get pissed away because our 4th round QB is choking under the pressure.
You mean the game that he "played like a rookie" and won last week?

Yeah none of those 3 were bad games. Two of the games GB/Pitt he completed over 65% of his passes and have 5 TDs and a INT. The Philly game he led a game tying TD drive and a game winning in overtime.
He lost a fumble in both the Pitt and GB games, he threw a horrible pick late against GB and completed fewer than 50% of his passes against Philly. Just because he played well in the 4th quarter of those games doesn't mean he was good overall. The Pitt game is the best example. It wouldn't even have been close if he was good in the first half.

Did you guys listen to Garrett? He said after the game that he likes very much where we are with Dak when asked about Romo. He said it very firmly. It didn't sound like it was on the radar. Im not gonna underestimate Jerry screwing this up though.

And Lovie Smith frequently praised Rex Grossman. Garrett's conferences are media speak.

Just saying that Dak's numbers the last 2 games are horrible, if he puts up another stinker next week against Tampa, I think the team has to seriously consider going to Romo.

We cant choke away a season like this and if Dak has been figured out (blitz him and cover all short routes and make him beat you deep and odds are he cant).

I guarantee that teams are not going to be blitzing Romo like that. Just something to consider if Dak has basically 3 suck games in a row.
I agree. If Dak lays another egg against Tampa, it's time to make the switch. Next week will be the third straight game against a playoff defense and if he sucks again then I think it's clear he wouldn't be ready for the playoffs.

Wow he lost a fumble. Hey everybody Dak lost a fumble in both games. That's what 'everyone' (more like Future) will remember from those two games. Not that Dak won those two games.

Most teams don't have the luxury of having a quality QB on the bench in the event their rookie QB stumbles. Dallas does. I wouldn't make the switch next week but a bad game next week followed up by a bad start against the Lions would do it. Get Romo a half or so of playing time with the home crowd and see if he can stay healthy.

Posted this on an earlier thread:

I won't be surprise if DAK stinks it up against Tampa next week. And Cowboys start Romo against the lions.

Jerry has said his biggest disappointment as a general manager would be not getting Tony a ring.

And he's been saying he wants Tony ready in case of a "DAK INJURY"

While it may not take a DAK injury to start Romo. How convenient will it be if Romo comes back late in the season and makes a Super Bowl run ala Payton Manning last year.

Agree with this. Let Dak play through this and get everything clinched and then get Romo some work. He hasn't played a real game in over a year.

Only 1 loss in those 3 games. If he loses 2 more in a row in similar fashion, I think maybe consider it. Tampa Bay made Brees look pretty bad.

So you're assuming that if he plays bad next week we win?

How quickly people forget Philly, GB and Pitt. This is hardly his first bad game.

The outright benching of Tony was a huge mistake.

This week, last week and a half of football on Thanksgiving were bad and you are right Future, there were other games that left a lot to be desired.

The way the team turned things over to Dak leads to a no turning back situation. Unless he gets injured. Dak can struggle for every game to close the season and the playoff opener and you can't with good conscious bench him anymore. They made their bed and have to lie in it. As fans we have to hope he regains his hot streak and also isn't a flash in the pan. I've only seen 13 games and that doesn't make a QB's career at all...ask Troy or Roger how theirs went.

No we don't. Stupid is running rampant. Dak won't 10 straight games. Has he not earned the right to rebound?

He had a chance today, and he stunk up the worse than Matt Cassel. He'll likely.get another chance next week, but how many does he get before you go.to a proven elite caliber QB?

Dak's mechanics and footwork is all over the place right now. He is taking too long to go through his progressions but what is more concerning is the fact that he did not use his legs at all tonight. That is about half of what makes him successful.

He hasn't really gotten better over the last few games but he was facing a tough stretch of defenses. He was horrid tonight and only one play is memorable......the TD pass. He is more indecisive now than he was a month ago.

If he plays close to this next week making the same mistakes, it might be time to get Romo in against Detroit. if only to see what Tony has left and if he is an option for the playoffs.

Dallas is a one-dimensional team at the moment(and they are even messing up that one component now) and you can bet TB will follow the same gameplan. All defenses have to do is keep constant pressure along with corner blitzes and Dak struggles.

I have said all along that Dak should remain the starter but that I did not think he was ready for a playoff gauntlet run, especially facing some tough defenses. I am all for letting this play out as long as Dak looks competent out there.....win or lose. Well, tonight he wasn't. It would be a shame to let Dak continue getting worse up to our playoff exit with Romo sitting there wondering what if........

One, maybe 1.5 more games to see if Dak can get out of his funk. If he stays from bad to mediocre by halftime vs Detroit.....put Romo in and go from there.
