If David Carr gets released does he become our backup QB?

I would hope so, but he could probably find a starting job somewhere instead. Some place with an offensive line.

I'm just really impressed by his accuracy, and there is still coach Palmer there too.

I'd want him here, but I honestly feel like he's good enough to start somewhere. I know he's been in the league for 4 or 5 years now, but for some reason I think he will be productive for someone other than Houston.

Wasn't Carr's play one of the reasons Palmer LOST his job?:nolook:

I look for Carr to stay in Houston.

There are some thirteen or fourteen teams that will be looking to replace or soon replace QBs. I doubt it.

just look around the league. over 5-6 teams are looking for a young starting QB with upside. he will become a starter...my guess is: vikings or raiders

Good God I hope not. This guy is horrid. I don't know how much Texans football you've watched, but I seen plenty do to the fact that I live here. Carr is not a leader, he does not make good decisions, and, well, he sucks.

He is a very good QB, if released he will be scooped up quickly. A change of scenery would do him some good.

Yeah, because that guy (former number one pick overall) is gonna play behind Tony Romo for a fraction of the cash he could make starting somewhere else. He might be on the outs in Houston but his stock is pretty high everywhere else. If the Texans release him there WILL BE a bidding war!!!

Remember the physical beating Aikman took his rookie year?
Remember the talk about how it might ruin him?
Remember how we put together one of the best lines in the NFL for him?

Now imagine if Aikman had gone through 3-4 seasons in a row of taking more sacks and punishment than any other QB in the NFL...2nd place not even being close.

Carr has the talent...a little mobility, a great arm, decent accuracy, and experience. But he is very close to "ruined."

If someone brings him into a good situation with weapons on offense, a good OL in front of him, and gives him time to learn the system, he'll still have a fine career as a starter.

Hopefully, he and his agent aren't stupid enough to go to the highest bidder if that is for another putrid team.

Imagine how he might have improved a bit this year if he'd had Reggie Bush catching 85--100 passes for him. They didn't do the poor guy any favors in Houston.

Great point...

You hope Carr hasn't been "ruined," but the possibility is definitely there. Weird to think of what would have happened if Aikman had been pummeled for 4 years.

But Carr definitely needs a change of scenery. Otherwise, I could see him out of the league in 2-3 more years.

Look for David Carr to either stay in Houston with Gary Kubiak, or to head off to Oakland, or even Detroit. But most likely to stay in Houston.

A wild guess, but maybe not too far off the beaten path.

No he's not. Dude's a complete bust. He can not read defenses and is NOT a leader. You sort of need those things to be a "very good QB."

Kind of like Harrington in Miami. Change of scenery can go a long way.

Carr has had a much better season than expected and I think a change of scenery is what he needs.

I would love him as the back up because he has the talent to start and can be a good bus driver.

I doubt he would not get a starting job somewhere else....now I would love to somehow steal Rosenfels from the Texans.

Aikman is 10000000 (i got tired of putting up zeros) times better than Carr!!! The guys that Blocked for Aikman in his rookie year were still around when the Boys were going to the playoffs... NATE, TUI, GOGAN, STEP and so on!!! Any old head Cowboy fan should know this!!!

the difference is TROY got better CARR has not!

Carr has Moulds and Johnson and threw for negative yards in a Gary Kubiak west coast O... thats hard to do!

he is an OL killer like Bledsoe! But if some of u wanna put him in the HOF with Troy after he changes "scenery" then be my guess, but I have to laugh!

David Carr is Troy Aikman...

Let me guess.

Galian Beast lives in Texas. Might even live in Houston.

Heard this on the radio and then decided to post.

Outstanding.

Carry on.

anyone who is too stupid to see what a poor O line can do should take a good long look at Houston. Carr could be a very good QB- I have seen enough of him to say that with DECENT protection he could be a top 10 QB in this league. He actually has not done too bad with the WORST O line in football.
