lets wait for adams' analysis but at first blush seems like an excellent contract. a significant base 4-5 mill.year and roster bonuses every year. so essentially a year to year contract that does not have to be renewed if he 'misbehaves'.

Behind the scenes....TO and Rosenhaus can't like the contract. For someone that perceives his talent to be above all else still isn't even the highest paid WR is he?
EDIT: Reading what Len P, said, if true, would be good for T.O. then.

However, TO better be on his P's and Q's.

I still don't think that TO is totally thrilled with the contract though....I think he still wants more.

3 year $25 million. Year 1, $5 mill bonus + $5 mill salary. Year 2 is $8 mill, combo of a bonus and salary, year 3 is $7 million, combo of bonus and salary.

According to Pasquarelli, that'll make him the highest paid receiver over a 3-year span if he fulfills the deal and earns all the roster bonuses, etc.

I'll be honest. I didn't want him at a bargain cost. If we had gotten him cheap, he'd have been complaining the second he made a nice catch in camp.

if he keeps his mouth shut and performs, over 3 years he will be.
also i am sure there are other bonuses in there that are pretty big such as SB etc. lets wait for the details but i feel that this way he gets money every year and we have a way out every year. win win.

Already edited my post after I read the Len P. article.

I'm just gald we still have outs to get rid of him if he acts up.

I was thinking the same thing...Don't go cheap...It could be a problem.

Now he has a Chance to make more money than Moss and Harrison during that 3 year period...So there shouldn't any problems on T.O.'s part about the contract...Which is what started all the problems in Philly.

What I like about the contract is that it's big enough that he won't be unhappy with it, but it also is designed in such a way that we can save a lot of money by cutting him after a year or two if things don't work out.

I think Jerry would agree there. We gave him what amounts to series of 1 year deals - we gain cap space if we have to cut him. Really that's the best you can do. TO is a major talent - one of the top 5 receivers of the past 10 years - he deserves big money and he got it.

and if he behaves Jerry is going to make him even more rich in the future.

What was his salary at Phillie that made him unhappy then?

I was expecting bigger figures.
