If I am not mistaken the Cowboys are the only team without a FA signing?

Packers haven't signed anyone either and they usually don't in the first 2-3 weeks of free agency.

It's a perfectly fine strategy.

Step off of the ledge CrazyCowboy.

Don't think this comes as a shock to anyone. Also, with the amount of FA big-dollar busts our forced fiscal prudence might be a blessing in disguise.

It's a very smart strategy, but it isn't being done because it's a very smart strategy. We have no money.

It's amazing the amount of threads we get about not signing anyone lol the draft is deep this year and we should focus on that. We can come away with possibly 3 starters instantly. Rather focus on that than signing other teams castoffs

The team has zero cap space with the draft around the corner.

I feel there are too many holes on this team not to sign any good FA's. I know there is still time but who backs up Murray, who are our safeties, who's in the middle of our d-line, and what about the oline? Are these problem gonna be fixed in the draft.

I'd say that between Rat, Hatcher, Crawford, Liss, and Bass, the middle of our dline is fine. Not great, but fine.

I would say that, by franchising Spencer, we did sign a FA. And an important one at that considering our switch.

It's not one that makes the team better though as we already had him.

Exactly.

We can barely pay the freaking light bill, we are not signing anybody because we cant sign anybody. The only way we were going to have any money to spend was if Spencer or Romo got new deals to lower their cap numbers.

So far neither player has got a new contract and carrying both guys on 1 yr deals is counting around $28 million against the cap. You cant have 2 guys eating up almost $30 million in cap and have any money left over to do jack.

Spencer was a free agent and we signed him to a one year deal. We did that via the franchise tag to keep the best FA DE/OLB in Dallas.

People think we overpaid using the tag but had he hit the open free agency market he would have commanded more dollars in that first year.

Basically we got the best FA DE/OLB available at a slightly below market price.

i like how you did that

he will not be playing OLB for us only DE so any value should be based on that

if he was the best DE on the market, can you provide his numbers as a starting DE in the NFL?

if not, please tell me how you know we got him below market value?

thanx in advance

This. It's probably a blessing in disguise that we don't have the $$ because given our history, we would probably way over pay for the value on these candidates. On the other hand, I would love to see a leader like EReed come in here. Might be worth the extra $$ for a team leader like Reed. Until you see a break through with Romo restructuring, we are dead in the water. Like I said, could ultimately be a blessing esp. if we have a winfall draft this year. That's a Big if though.
