My gut feeling is..Jerry and Stephen are betting on the 2015 season....clean up the Salary Cap this year, take a top 10 draft pick next year and build this team for the future....Its not an over night process, plus17 years of Jerry's way has not worked....time to swallow the pill and do it right. I see a 6-10 season (tough schedule and no defense).

Its just NOT good business to come out and tell you the Cowboys are rebuilding..that wouldn't put people in the seats.

It would give us more hope than this. It would at least let us know that they have a plan. This we are not rebuilding every year and 8-8 is better than last year's 8-8 isn't doing anything.

I think they're going to be terrible also. Does it matter though? If we finish 3rd or 4th, we still aren't likely to make the playoffs.

been a boys fan since 1970 and I cannot ever remember us getting but a few. The Hail Mary being one. On the debit side of that is the Catch. And sadly too many other less publicized but bad times when the ball bounced the other way.

Well, before the preseason ever began, I had a strong feeling this team would likely manage a 7-9 record when all was said and done. I haven't seen anything to convince me it's destined to manage anything better thus far. I'm sorry to say I can see where it could conceivably get worse, though. Excessive injuries to our starters, especially on defense, could produce a devastating effect in terms of our won-loss record at season's end. I'd venture to guess that 7.5-win estimate is about what can be expected in 2014. If pressed for an over-under, sorry to say I'd feel compelled to go with under for a 7-win finish. Yeah, gotta say I don't like it either. Of course, if the team manages to pick up some surprisingly capable acquisitions in the weeks ahead, it might change somewhat.

They've consistently shown the ability to overcome their weaknesses in recent years. We have never shown that trait under Garrett.

It's irrelevant. They are not Super Bowl contenders this season. They need to structure the roster to peak in 2015. I don't care if keeping stopgap veterans wins an extra game. Keep all young players with upside regardless of the 2014 win/loss record.

Just focus on how good the offense can be this season. I'll put the over/under at 5th ranked offense in the league.
