If I see Lacewell around the big table this weekend, I'm looking for sharp objects

If Larry Lacewell is sitting around the table with all the national scouts and pro personnel guys this weekend, making his voice heard, I'll jump off the High Five. I may lead off the local news.

Pure poison. Jerry might have cut our scouting staff to the nub in the 90s, and we had some questionable career scouts that hung out through the last decade, but Lacewell was the boss. He could have overruled poor decisions, and he didn't. Or poor strategy: I think way back to after SB teams when he or Jerry decided to draft "backups," at the ready - to play special teams. Yeah, Sherman Williams, Carver, K. Pittman, et al.

He's Jerry buddy and with him having an "advisory" role, it wouldn't surprise me if he's in the room. If you have a guy doing work for you on prospects and he's not there on draft day, why have him? As much as i blame LL, Jerry thinks a lot of him so i bet he's lurking on Saturday.

Hey buddie, i agree with u, larry lacewell is pure poison, he is more a yes man to jerry jones, not a in your face to parcells and jerry jones liike jeff ireland was.

it was ireland i heard that almost got up on the table, when parcells wanted to draft jacob rogers, he told him no, he is injury prone, true parcells still took him, and you know the rest, but ireland stood up to parcells;

thing that gets me, larry lacewell was on the other day and was praising mcfadden saying he is just as good as adrian peterson or better, and most of the other scouts on teams and nfl draft anaylsts say that mcfadden is more a hit the hole guy, not a cutter like adrian, and if hole isnt there, Mcfadden isnt going anywhere.

now im not saying mcfadden isnt any good, but we had another great running back once, Hershel Walker that had to have a hole, and if hole wasnt there, he couldnt cut, swivel.

we need a running back that can move and cut like westbrook with the eagles. I think the HuddleReport was right, when he said, that the best running backs to him in this draft were stewart and ray rice. He said the others were more so, run to the sideline like mcfadden, you cant do that in the NFL, you have to run between the tackles most of the time, sure now and then run to sideline and turn it up if its there for big yardage, but most good dominant defensive teams arent going to let you get to the sideline.

HuddleReports was iffy i think on felix jones, but he did say he had wiggle, thats to me what we need, a guy with wiggle and speed to burn, faster than Barber, that would be a good change up. I like McFadden, but im just scrared of him, that he is another hershel walker.

i forgot to add, we did have horrible drafts with larry lacewell in charge, i just think he is too old to do the nfl draft evaluating now, that time has passed him by.

Amen!
Preaching to the choir.
Lacewell should be treated as the ultimate bad luck charm.
When Lacewell rings the doorbell to be let in to Valley Ranch JJ,Wade,Stephen and Tom Czikowski should all hide under the tables turn off the lights and be silent. Maybe he will go away.

lol roshi, im not too worried about campo, i think campo is an excellent db coach, and best i remember he endorsed kevin smith, darren woodson, and he found cant think of his name right now, but a safety we drafted in low rounds, and he could standing still jump sideways about 6 feet to intercept balls, he later went on to the dolphins for a few years,

so campo im not afraid of, but lacewell, lock the doors, change the locks,

How did he feel about Kareem Larrimore, Charlie Williams, Kenny Wheatly, Tony Dixon, Mario Edwards and Dwayne Goodrich?

Or did he just "endorse" the good ones?

Tony Dixon and Dwayne Goodrich can be chalked up to Lacewell's strong SEC connections.
Ummmmn boy!
Way to go Larry!

I ripped Parcells, but the best thing he ever did was tell Lacewell to kick rocks... Now, I hope, Lacewell is jus trying to justify his paycheck!

thanks punit329, that was him brock marion; to me a good safety;

back to the other guys larrimore, tony dixon, that was all larry lacewell, (granted as we all know, jerry jones was probably calling the shots, and larry was say yes sir,

when campo was head coach, he didnt have time to go look at films of these young guys, etc, and visit them for pre draft visits, he was going off of what larry lacewell was saying, the bonehead lacewell;

May be the biggest reason I hate Larry Lacewell.

Exhibit A: Bill's first year, he apparently banned Larry from the sacred halls of V Ranch. Larry was kind of hanging around. Who could blame Bill for doing this?

Here's the amazing thing: Just after Bill left, Lacewell was suddenly quoted (he was suddenly rehabilitated). Lacewell could now exert his influence. He was free to roam the corridors of Valley Ranch and do whatever, a friend of Jerry.

So Lacewell was available to media for comments right after Bill left. I remember the quote in the DMN (either in the blog or in publishable material then):

Lacewell said to whoever media would hear: that Bill was a total, complete SOB. His quotes were humorous, if you didn't know that Lacewell was the fool.

If you were Lacewell, if you have any respect for a organization that just drafted your *** off with with effort, intelligence, insight etc., had some of the best draft hits/grades of any team (sorry I don't have link on this site posted recently, that proved Cowboys were in the top 5 overall great drafts last few years). Not perfect, Bobby Carpenters etc. so far ... but we were graded among the best the last few years. ...

Why would you disparage them? Just amazing irreverence, given that you were completely outdone. A stupid man.

No doubt BP is one of the best ever at evaluating talent and he definitely turned this franchise around. Hopefully poison pills from the late nineties like Campo and Lacewell don't come back and ruin all the good (uhh, sorry except for you, Bobby Carpenter) Parcells did.

Carpenter still might turn out to be good or maybe we can trade him for something, so don't give up on him yet.
