I am telling you guys, if you hire Jon Gruden in any capacity, it would be like selling your soul to the Devil. If this guy can antagonize classy guys like Joey Galloway and Mike Alstott, he will destroy any kind of chemistry on the cowboys.

I would not want him running water out to the team during timeouts.

Rob, I think it's pretty well understood that's what was done along *** time ago when Clint sold the Cowboys to Jerry ;)

That's the division where the division doormat became the division winnerr the next year a couple or few times isn't it. Until this year you had Carolina in their good years and Tampa in their good years. Not a great division although probably better than its reputation. TB did win a SB and Carolina went to one. But its been a mediocre division. That helps a lot. TB still didn't do a lot.

well, its not like shanny's division is one of the most glowingly competitive ones out there. how the heck did san diego manage to get into the playoffs and even host a playoff game with an 8-8 record?! and talk about kansas city and oakland. next to nfc west, the afc west has been crucified all season long. the nfc south almost managed to put in 3 teams this year in the playoffs, with the re-emergence of carolina and atlanta.

but i didnt know about gruden's rep with his players. he's certainly no players' coach for sure, unlike a certain one we know.:p:

I think you have to at least speak to Gruden ...

However, for all of us getting excited about a change we should all consider this. Unless Jerry makes a change Saturday, we won't see anything until late next week. Jerry likes to make a splash and he's going to get ZERO news coverage plus or minus two days from the inaguration. (that's not a political post, just a statement of media fact)

With you being in Florida, you must hear a lot more news about Gruden than the rest of us.

I kind of like him, though.

He hasn't had much talent at the QB position through his head coaching career. I'd like to think that Romo is at least as good as Rich Gannon ever was.

Gruden can't destroy a team chemistry that doesn't exist. Maybe the players will build a new one with Gruden around.... Who knows?

Here is Jon Gruden's offensive rankings since he became the head coach at Tampa

24th
10th
22nd
23rd
29th
18th
14th

I like to tease a friend of mine about what Jon Gruden did. "Jon Gruden is the first head coach to lead his team to back to back losing seasons after winning the superbowl!"

Gruden alienates his players by being deictful.... his offensive strategy is boring, predicatable and downright painful to watch.

People complian about Garrett.... wait until you watch the 6 yard out patterns on 3rd and 7...

Gruden would be horrible for team Chemistry. I personally know some of the Tampa players. Gruden is not trusted and hated by most. He has backstabbed most of them. This is believed to be one of the main reasons the owner cleaned house, because of players. Trust me on this one. No Gruden !!!!

Well technically Gannon's success that one year came the year after Gruden left the Raiders. Gannon is the one Gruden beat in the Super Bowl his first year at Tampa.

I think I'm on the "Chucky" bandwagon. Shanny is a good second alternative imo though. By looking at the two, it seems to me that Gruden has "more left in the tank". And that's what I want, someone with a greater chance to be here and stick around for awhile.

Just for a moment think what Gruden could have done with that 02' Raiders squad who tore across the league all season long only to meet Gruden's greatly less talented team in Tampa and get it handed to them. The 02' Raiders remind me a lot of the team we had in 07', talented as all but with no real substance. And those 02' Bucs, under-talented and rising to the challenge of winning a Championship- not too mention with a Rookie HC to boot.

Gimme, Chucky- someone to scare the "gansta-punk-thug" out of this team and troll our sideline for a decade plus. I just don't want Shanny and a new HC in a handful of years. Gruden can work in Dallas and in the process give Jerry a real run for his money. He's what Parcells could have been here had he been younger and more up to the challenge.
