If I were the Houston Texans

I'd trade my 3rd round pick (and throw in a 5th as a sweetener) to the Patriots for Ryan Mallett (who O'Brien loves) and then trade slightly down in the 1st to get way more than that back. I could then use that 1st round pick on a guy like Anthony Barr, plus have the additional picks I got in the trade.

Let's say the Falcons want Clowney and trade up with the Texans to grab him. That's moving from the 6 spot (1600 points) to the 1 spot (3,000 points). If the Falcons just traded their first 3 picks, that's worth 2,360 points. I take that deal if I'm the Texans.

Mallett probably has as good a chance as Bortles or Manziel or Bridgewater. O'Brien knows this or else he'd not be in talks right now about getting Mallett.

I always liked Mallet and the Pats got a steal when drafting him in the third round. I figured that Mallet would follow in Brady's footsteps and be the starter after Brady's retirement. The Pars must not think so or they wouldn't be trading him.

hmm, if Houston gets a QB pre-draft, it will certainly impact the first round of the draft...that could make things more interesting for Dallas...and, in a mock or two, you see Carr going in the first round...

love the draft and the potential it brings for entertainment (and that is what the team is all about)!

If I were the Texans, I'd probably do the same thing. Drop down a couple spots and grab Mack.

I hope the texans do this because it will set them back at least 2 years
Mallett is a statue with a huge windup throw

In their place I would go with bridgewater who I think is the best QB in this draft and a long term NFL starter

What are the odds of having two elite quarterbacks on the same team? Very poor.

I think its more about seeing the window close and mortgaging the future for the present.

I don't like Mallett...he's a dolt, going back to college. However, O'Brien knows a little more about it than me so we shall see..

What a great move for Houston if they land Mallett and Draft Clowney. There'd be a new Sheriff in Town, not a Cowboy but still a Texan.

If the Trade doesn't materialize you still select Clowney to team with Watts....it'd be the best Defensive duo going on the DL.
