and he became a FA like he was suppose to like Brandon Jacobs..what would you want Jerry to do?

a) Sign him to a long term deal
B) Franchise him
C) Sign and trade
D) Let him walk

I'd be tempted to let him walk after seeing what Choice did this year.

A sign and trade would be optimum.

Huh? This isn't the NBA a sign and trade has an adverse reaction with the salary cap. You can "Tag" and trade but it would be completely stupid to sign and trade, since the salary would accelerate to the cap.

not give him the contract he gave him.

Bingo. Crazy to give him that contract. He is a change of pace running back, not a feature back.

Would anyone be questioning Barber's contract if he hadn't hurt his toe this year? He single-handedly won the Commanders game and we sure missed him in December. Don't forget how his intensity gets the offense going. We don't get that fire from anyone else on the offense.

I think running backs are by and large one of the easiest positions to replace, so I wouldn't give him as big a contract.

Choice ran better in December than Barber did at any point in the season. Against better defenses.

Sign him to a smaller deal or possibly trade him in a sign and trade deal or something.

I don't imagine he'd still be a Cowboy coming up this season if they hadn't come to that long term deal last year.

It's amazing how much people love the back up in any position with this team. People were screaming for Barber to become the starter, now they want him out of town.

A lot of you naysayers on Barbarian were praising Jerry when he signed him before the season.

I'm not saying I'd want him gone, I still love Barber. I'm just saying if he didn't get that huge deal last year, with the depth we have at runningback now, the guy would either have had to sign for a lot less, to stay here, or he wouldn't be here this coming year because there wouldn't have been the need to give him the huge money when you've got the other guys here who've proven to be more than worthy of playing time and can get the job done.

It's not a knock on Barber it's just simply a numbers game. I'm glad he's here, and will be for a long time, but he's lucky he signed the long term deal when he did, or he likely wouldn't be here anymore.

Which is what I said last year and Jerry went out and gave him a stupid contract

Kind of a dumb hindsight scenario. I like the depth that we have because Felix's health scares me a bit. The fact that his injuries seemed to be non-contact, if I remeber correctly, makes me wonder how cocnsistent he will be.

Hopefully we will use the running backs more creatively this season, rather than just running the back with higher seniority until he expires.

Jerry would have tagged him and tried signing him to a long term deal.
