It's not about believing in him. It's about player evaluation. The evaluation on Dak is a big incomplete. However, in 4 years there will be no doubt.

The "believing in him thingie" is more of a media hype thingie.

The idea that they are still in doubt, and still an evaluation phase with Dak and consider him a "big incomplete" pretty much indicates they don't yet believe in him - that he's no better than a "maybe", and, again, if they aren't any more convinced that Dak is the right guy than that, they shouldn't commit $100 million + to him. A team doesn't give up $100+ million with the idea that it will take 4 years to decide if they should have done that. They have to be convinced up front that it is a good investment. Whether they are right or wrong, I think the Cowboys have already decided Dak is the right guy.

My concern is that if JJ pays Dak, he will less likely want to part ways with his investment after investing so much. We know how much he gets attached to things after 10 yrs of following a carrot dangling from a string.

He let Emmitt walk. He let Larry Allen Walk. He released DeMarcus Ware. He let Prescott permanently replace Romo. There is precedent for him moving on from even top players.

    Yep

I mean they have already basically said as much with their “ All In” rhetoric.

And I believe they were ready to meet Daks demands until the public sentiment caused reason for pause. That’s the result of Jerry always playing these negotiations out in the media.

Now he’s trying to present a perception of being tough but I think he’s willing to make Dak the highest paid QB and will Pimp it like Dak is more than worthy of it. Taking it down to the last minute though will provide him more support as a last ditch effort to save the season.

And it keeps the media and fans talking about the Cowboys while nothing else is going on in the offseason.

    Of course.

But Jerry swings with public perception. It influences his moves just like his coaching decision going against everything he wanted to do.

And I believe he’s ready to make Dak the highest paid QB in the league . Public perception isn’t with him right now. But as we get closer to the season, especially if Dak doesn’t sign the Franchise Tag, pressure will mount to get a deal done.

Dak could actually bail him out by signing the tag. Then my money says if Dak gets off to a hot start Jerry steps up during season.

I think there is a fair chance the parties already know the deal, but they are letting it linger just to keep media attention on the Cowboys.

What offer have they made? To my knowledge all we have is ever changing and unsubstantiated reports by media sources trying to sell their product.

lol.. he did this same thing at another board, claimed he turned a vikings fan and disowned the cowboys, now he's doing it again. I sure there's some here that remember it from the ranch.

Here's a spoiler for you: It's not going to workout.

It's almost impossible to win a Super Bowl after you pay your QB big money unless that guy is out of this world good. I think Mahomes and Wilson are the only two guys for sure I'd put in that category. (Rodgers maybe out of that category now and Lamar Jack needs to do it for one more year)

This isn't Dak's fault. It's just how the system is setup. I don't see the Cowboys winning anytime soon with the money being allocated to the players they're paying.

You would have been spot on six months ago, I'm not certain now. This recent close down of our total economy may reset many industries, the NFL included. I sure hope not, but we're on completely new turf here.

True this NFL season in any normal sense is already over. There is no way a regular season will be played this year. Millions are out of jobs and the social distancing will be going on for 1+ years, which effectively kills the NFL season for this year and maybe next year. It's not even about covid as much as it's about the shutdown orders and the massive cost to everything.
