Alot of people discounting taking a wr in the 1st because Jerry or Stephen said so.
Uh....you all realize that when GM's lips are moving this time of year, they're generally lying right?
Middle of the season during a press conference, even Wade Phillips said he dislikes taking wide receivers in the first round of a draft. Really, go back through the past drafts and take a look at the receivers taken in the first round, and then receivers found elsewhere. You may be able to find a stud, but the odds are completely against you. Phillips said in his presser that he would rather take a different position, and take a wide receiver in a later round. How many times do you see a rookie WR come into the league and put up great numbers?
Bowe had a good year last year, and Colston had a good year his rookie year as well. Boldin had a good year in his rookie year too. Anyone really remember any others?
I think the people expecting us to draft a WR and have them come in and make an impact are going to be in for a rude awakening. I'm all for going CB at #22 and take a RB at #28. Really don't want to take a WR in the 1st round, as I believe there aren't many prospects that deserve that spot. I feel that there's plenty of middle of the pack wide receivers that we'd be much better taking a flyer on, rather than spending a 1st.
