Then we are defiently taking CB with #22. That leaves #28 for a vet WR or one of the RBs. Jerry and Steven both have killed the idea of WR drafted in the 1st.

Good to know Jerry is not as dumb as some people think, he said Pac would not influence the draft plans at all.

Smart man;)

Alot of people discounting taking a wr in the 1st because Jerry or Stephen said so.

Uh....you all realize that when GM's lips are moving this time of year, they're generally lying right?

And even if he's telling the truth, it might just be because they were convinced the one WR they ranked with a 1st rd grade would never make it two 22.

I hear this a lot and then i hear, what prospect or position has Jones misled us on.

I have yet to hear an answer.

Middle of the season during a press conference, even Wade Phillips said he dislikes taking wide receivers in the first round of a draft. Really, go back through the past drafts and take a look at the receivers taken in the first round, and then receivers found elsewhere. You may be able to find a stud, but the odds are completely against you. Phillips said in his presser that he would rather take a different position, and take a wide receiver in a later round. How many times do you see a rookie WR come into the league and put up great numbers?

Bowe had a good year last year, and Colston had a good year his rookie year as well. Boldin had a good year in his rookie year too. Anyone really remember any others?

I think the people expecting us to draft a WR and have them come in and make an impact are going to be in for a rude awakening. I'm all for going CB at #22 and take a RB at #28. Really don't want to take a WR in the 1st round, as I believe there aren't many prospects that deserve that spot. I feel that there's plenty of middle of the pack wide receivers that we'd be much better taking a flyer on, rather than spending a 1st.

Depending on who the Cowboys take at pick #22, I could see them taking a wr, or cb. IMO Texas' Limas Sweed is a good pick at 28.:star:

Jerry is just talking about pac being a luxury to make sure the Titans know that he is not going to give them everything they want for him. He is saying...we don't NEED him, we just see him as a luxury.

As far as WR goes in the first. When was the last time Jerry has taken a WR in the first round?

Right now if we could get Antoine Cason or Mike Jenkins at 22 it would be great and then draft a rb with number 28. I dont think we should draft an rb with 28 if Felix Jones is gone.:starspin

Whats got more value, a ho hum luxury item or the missing piece to a potential fortune? When you haggle costs in a open market you dont gush and tell the vendor how much you need something before negotiating the cost.

JJ is smart in that he isnt going to show his hand to the Titans or to the media. He delivered the message he intended to, IMO.

At the end we will get an absolute bargain for the talent level. Of course the risk brings the cost way down. But if we get lucky and never have a problem the investment is nominal. They guys a stud between the lines, no pun intended. :p:

And that's why we darned grateful Jerry moved so quickly to sign TO once the Eagles released him--although I admit being against his signing cause I very concerned he would damage our young team. Now, if Jerry can somehow get Bouldin (won't happen cause Cards will have more then enough cap money next year to re-sign him to a long contract), so that leaves RWilliams & CJ. What do we do if Jerry unable get either? Are there any other good WRs out there we can trade for? Belicheat played Dolphins so he knew about Welker's play & grabbed the former RFA. Who else is an option at WR for us if not RWilliams & CJ?

The unwritten answer is Joey Gallowaste. That didn't turn out so well.

Even if the Rain Man is signed.. Go get another DB first round and Kenny Phillips. Hamlin or Roy might not be on roster next year. Newman will be a free agent and Henry hasn't shown he can stay healthy for a whole season.

I kind of agree with Fuzzy here. When Jerry says something, he's usually telling the truth, or so it seems. The people that they bring in, they are usually interested in drafting. I think Jerry tells you what he's thinking but the media or the fans don't always listen or pay attention to what it is that is actually being said. JMO

You may be right. However, I think much depends on how well Ball has actually progressed. If we can believe Newman, Ball could very well be ready to be the 3rd CB for us. Perhaps Jerry and the team know this and are taking this into account. That would make sense as to why he doesn't feel PacMan is a priority. Having said that, he may just be doing what many believe he should be doing. Taking a take it or leave it stance with Tennessee and old Bud.

You know, Adams has hatted Dallas ever since they started. Adams wanted to hire Tom Landry as HC for the Houston team way back when. He actually had an offer in front of Coach Landry and if you can believe the stories, Coach Landry was considering it very seriously. Dallas came in later with a higher offer and the rest is history. It would not surprise me if Jerry is just driving a stake in the ground and saying to Tennessee, "This is the deal. He's a luxury and we don't need him to win this year. Here is what we are willing to pay."
