True.. theres been a number of guys like that. Holmgren and Reid and Gruden and Mangini.. even throw Payton in there although he'd been around the block a little bit more at least.. But the difference is every one of those guys was given the keys to a franchise that had 4 wins or less the previous year.
Which means regardless of whether they actually ended up with quick success, the heat wasnt on them to get it done right away. In our case there is that kind of heat so it's more of a risk.
Thats why getting back to the original point, Jerry needs to worry about this selection not just so he can steal some of the spotlight from this years SB, but to ensure he gives himself the best shot to actually *participate* in one himself in the near future.
