Elam hasn't been asked to cover a whole lot, but that was the nature of the Florida defense. However, if you look at the times he did cover, he covered well enough. He's underrated in terms of coverage. He just hasn't been asked to cover a lot. Word has it that Baltimore is interested in Elam.

He's small so TEs are going to out muscle him and he's stiff so WRs are going to out run him off their cuts. He's a in the box guy and they are looking for a FS.

I can understand that I guess. Vaccaro is a very competitive exciting player as well. I guess we will have to see how all the chips fall.

He's scrappy in pass coverage. I'm aware of his height disadvantage, but it's not all about size. He can cover better than people think.

Considering how much the NFL has changed with the new helmet rules and trying to protect players, who knows how valuable a guy like Elam can be. Back in the day, he would've been a stud considering how aggressive and nasty he plays. But these days? I personally don't think he can play with that same aggressiveness because of the rule changes and the the NFL trying to protect players. It sucks, but it's the truth.

In a cover2, it is about size and length. Guys who are taller or longer are going to be able to make plays shorter guys can not. That's just a reality.
