If no Rankins...can we take Day later?

Chances are we will not get Rankins unless we trade down in the first or for some odd reason he falls to our second round pick.

So with that in mind...Can we get Sheldon Day later in the draft.

I think he is going to be a good player.


Or maybe you can list a player that we might not take in the first but you like a player later in the draft that would make you feel better about not getting the first guy.

I like Day, but his injury history concerns me...especially with our training staff.

Would anybody be surprised if we don't draft a single DT?, they are counting on Terrell freaking McClain .this D will never improve unless we spend draft capital on DTs.

Rod worked with him quite a bit at the Senior Bowl, had him playing DE too. He played really well.

I'd look out for him and Jihad Ward as 3rd+ round "under the radar types".

Day would be good in 3rd or 4th. ND fan here, solid player. has missed some games and come out of others. Seems Rod liked him at SR bowl. Guy have an eye on in 2nd is Kenny Clark from UCLA, if we don't go DL in 1st.

Clark could be there in the second, but he has no substance abuse issues or injury history so Dallas will probably pass.

I really want to find a way to get an extra 2nd rounder or two. I think the strength of the draft is in the 2nd, particularly at DT and WR, plus Karl Joseph, maybe some RBs and anyone who falls out of the 1st.

Kenny Clark is one of my favorite DT's in this draft...also like Butler. Hargrave is intriguing as well...very productive.

He played in all 13 games as a true frosh, 11 of 13 games his sophomore year, 11 of 13 games his junior year and all 13 games his senior.

He had some nicks and bruises along the way and I think his junior year he played but battled a high ankle sprain through a stretch of games. But Brugler makes it sound like he spent a ton of time missing games.

It seems like each year when the draft is deepest in a particular position we don't draft anyone for that position...so i would not be shocked either. Mad as hell, but not completely shocked. With this years draft we should take two Dline players at least.

I also like him a lot. I have him in some mocks. I just don't know where he goes. I'd like to think he would be there for our 4th round picks but I doubt it.

If not Rankins, I next like Bullard and Hargrove from SC in RDS 2/3. Need some tradebacks to target some better picks.

We have the 4th pick overall take the best at the position. I would rank Rankin over all all the DE people are wanting to take with our 1st round pick.

If we trade down, I would love to take Rankins but we also know Marinelli really liked Day from the senior bowl so it may be a possibility.

Probably a consideration in the fourth round!
