If no Rankins...can we take Day later?

You don't like Hassan Ridgeway or Sheldon Rankins?

Rankins & Day are two of my favorite DT's...particularly in terms of scheme fit. While covering DL vs. OL drills during one of the NFL Network broadcasts of the Senior Bowl practices, Daniel Jeremiah said that Day had quickly become one of Marinelli's favorites during the week, and he also mentioned that Marinelli at times couldn't hide his smile when watching & working with Day. Rankins of course had a stellar week until the injury. Think they had some interest in Jihad Ward as well...among others.

Here's a link to Marinelli putting several of the DT's through a drill at the Senior Bowl. Notice with Day he says "that's excellent".

Hoping desperately that Vernon Butler makes it to pick 34. I like Kenny Clark as well but Butler could be a monster in the League.

I like Day as a person, but I don't think he will amount to much as a pro. If he can get into a good rotation he will be ok, but he's never going to be a legitimate pass rusher.

Chances are we will not get Rankins unless we trade down in the first or for some odd reason he falls to our second round pick.

So with that in mind...Can we get Sheldon Day later in the draft.

I think he is going to be a good player.


Or maybe you can list a player that we might not take in the first but you like a player later in the draft that would make you feel better about not getting the first guy.

Yes...I am bored this morning.

Sheldon Day, Austin Johnson, Kevin Dodd. Plenty of talent available later. Even Hassan Ridgeway.
