If only Hardy would have appealed

I'll reserve judgement until we see what kind of an impact he actually has on the game. Hardy only played in 1 game in 2014, which means his last real season was 2013, that's two years removed. I have no doubt that we're better with him than without him, but until he proves it, I can't be sure that he's still the player we're counting on him being. I'm very excited to finally see him play for us, but I'm keeping my expectations pretty low for now.

I keep wondering why so many harp on him not playing as if he were a QB. ALL he has to do is rush the passer - mainly. How rusty can you get?

possibly. and you never know what can happen in a court if Hardy had taken it that far. And how long it might have taken. At the time it looked like the right thing to do overall. He would be back for the Pats and that was what was really important to the team, I am willing to bet. They did not want to risk more - who knew Romo would get injured? You throw the dice and sometimes they come up snake eyes.

With Romo out, I'd just as soon get it over with. Better now than in November.

Plus, there's no ugly trial and constant rehashing of the incident to go through.

He's going to make a big difference. McClain's back, too. He and Lee playing together if it ever happens should be fun to watch.

But the fact is we're not 3-1 and now playing best team in league. We needed those 2 winnable games. And just like Brady, a court appeal by NFL (if Hardy won) would have been pushed to Feb. he'd have played in every game. He made the wrong decision and I still have no idea why.

It was funny seeing Barney Fife going overboard....not so much Goodell. Unless Goodell loses in a real courtroom. Yes, Hardy should have contested it like several others.

Hardy beat up his coke-***** of a girlfriend and threw her on a bed of assault rifles.

You want to talk about that for more months on end?

The suspension is over. It was the right decision.

Lee is playing on Sunday. Pretty much confirmed.

I find it hard to believe that one man could make that much of a difference when the rest of the defense and scheme don't appear to be in sync. He is no Charles Haley in my opinion.

Haley's best season 16 sacks
Hardy's best season so far 15 sacks

I do, but it doesn't matter. You roll in the mud with pigs....

The point is, it would have been all over the news for weeks on end.

Let's be done with it. I'm sure he's ready for that.

Still, the last season he was a force in the league was 2013 when he had 15 Sacks, which was an improvement on his breakout season of 2012 when he had 11 Sacks. But in 2011, despite starting 16 games, he only registered 4 Sacks, after having 3 Sacks in his rookie year of 2010 with no games started. Maybe it did just take him a couple of seasons to figure it out, it's not uncommon for pass-rushers to need some seasoning before developing into something special. On the other hand, in Carolina, he had a veteran double-digit sack guy at the other DE position in Charles Johnson, and that Panthers DL was probably a little better overall compared to this Dallas DL. So I guess I'm questioning how elite Greg Hardy really is, especially since he hasn't shown it in two seasons. I have super high hopes, but relatively low expectations.

If Hardy appeals and a decision is pushed into 2016 it potentially hurts his chances at signing a $100 million deal. He loses a few million now but gives himself a chance at the big payday in the spring. Likely a smart move financially. To go through 2 consecutive off seasons of uncertainty regarding availability would be a mess at the negotiating table.

Again, the point is, do you want this franchise dragged through weeks on end of testimony over an incident that may or may not have happened in that fashion?

Would that not be an ugly distraction to the season for everybody?

Four games. Done. Let's play ball.

Don't understand the point to be honest. There is more than just sacks, it's the timing of those sacks and making those around you better. Does Hardy do that? Let's find out. My suspicion will be no, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'm just talking about the process, not what he was accused of.

I think we're 3-1 or even 4-0 with a legit difference making rush DE to finish off those games.

IF only we kept Murray or gotten a comparable replacement
IF only we had gotten a real backup QB

The list goes on....

There was no reason for him not to challenge it. No reason at all. Just another thing I can't figure out.

Just like why is OL Collins inactive? :)

There's always reasons. For one thing, lawyers are very expensive. If he lost the appeal, not only does he still miss 4 games, he has to pay the lawyers. I can't remember which player it was, but I remember reading about another NFL player who basically gave up the appeal process because it was costing him too much money.
